Ifc import
-
my customer sent me some ifc files.
I tried to import to sketchup but import failed.
what can I do?
Any chance to convert to sketchup?
-
1, Go to the file File menu inside Sketchup.
2, Click Import.
3, click the drop-down (bottom right) and select all supported types.
4, Navigate to the IFC file and left-click the file.
5, Click import at the bottom right-hand side.I assume you tried it this way?

Try viewing the file at...
If that fails try the free BlenderBIM addon
...then export to .dae
-
Yes I did it like you discribed.
I will try the blender way...
thank you!

I intalled the blenderplugin.
It worked well with the smallest ifc file (582 kb)but the most important file is to huge, Blender is crashing (120 MB)
I can open it in the viewer https://ifcjs.github.io/web-ifc-viewer/example/index
but I can not convert it into another format.
There ist a downloadbutton and a dropbox button but they do not work
what can I do?
can somebody convert for me?

Can you open the file with this...
Open IFC Viewer
Open IFC Viewer is a professional-grade IFC viewer
Open IFC Viewer (openifcviewer.com)
Also try this...

can I convert with it or only open it?
opening works fine with the first one but I was not able to convert it.
-
The first is a viewer only. It's to see if the file will actually open.
The second allows you to convert. I was interested to see if the file itself would open elsewhere.

I'm out of options I'm afraid.
Ask your client to export to a different format. IFC can be hit or miss because its not just mesh data and that is likely all you need.

My client was able to convert to sketchup.
thank you

Out of curiosity, what did that 120mb .ifc become in size when converted to .skp
