Multiple re-use of copied object???
-
Hi all,
In SU, I was wondering if it was at all possible to make multiple copies of a selected item without having to singly select the object to move/copy each time. Say I have a grid, and I want to copy a whole heap of circles to random grid intersections. How do I do that quickly without having to select move and copy each time, the last one I have just placed? I want to be able to copy and place as many as I need to by just simply clicking once on each grid random point?
Is there a way?

What I may do in such a case is make a component and copy it (using generic "Copy" command) then use paste key command to paste to each point. You have to press the key command each time-- so maybe there's a plugin for simply clicking one after the other (considering if it's worth it to go that route). Pay attention to the insertion point of the component you create for accurate placement.

Yes I see. Not exactly what I wanted, but I reckon its probably the quickest way of going about it at this stage. Thanks pbacot.

Kerry, after you copy the first circle and type the distance, you can type 10x to repeat the copy 10 times, or however many times you want. read this short article:

Thanks helvetica. I know about that one. What I was after is to be able to copy and then paste repeatedly at different locations without having to "Click on object, Select Move, Click, Ctrl, Click" everytime. I just want to "Click on object, Select Move, Click, Ctrl, Click, click, click, click, click, click". Similar to what can be done in autocad.

Thanks TBoy. Will check it out. I also found "Repeat Copy" by Chris Fullmer of Smustard.com. works well.

... the use of Skatter is ideal to combine your desired randomness with a grid
