ClothWorks License broke - deadline tomorrow!
-
So this happened again. Same error message. Does anyone know what's up? Is there a better place I can go for feedback/ assistance?
Really need to figure out why my license keeps randomly breaking as I use this plug-in a lot for the modeling I do for work.
-
Which version are you using?
- Windows
- SketchUp
- Clothworks
-
I'm using the following:
Mac OS 10.13.5
SketchUp Pro 2018 18.0.16976
Clothworks 1.1.1 -

Clothworks 1.1.1You need to update your profile here.
Any accent / special characters in your username (on your machine)?
Else it may be with the licencing system, IIRC Clothworks utilizes the SketchUcation licencing system. do you have the latest of these installed?
Which other extensions / plugins do you have installed? Do you experience any problems there?

Profile updated
There is a '.' in my username. Would that cause an issue? Not sure if I can change it as this is a work computer.
My SketchUcation is v3.1.5
I have many other extensions/plugins installed (my tool pallet is huge!) - no problems with any of them.

Hello corneydj,
That is an interesting case. This may be an issue with SketchUcation licensing on particular configurations of Mac OS X. I sent you a private message regarding this.
Best regards,
Anton

Hey Anton,
I tried replying to your PM but the website says you don't accept them. Response below:
Yeah sure - if you think that will help. The funny thing is is that I have 2 seats currently activated - one on my personal computer and one on my work computer - both machines are Mac laptops running the same version of Mac OS, SketchUp, SketchUcation & Clothworks, but only one is having licensing issues. When I look up the licensing details on my personal computer it reports all as ok with the proper seats being activated (2 of 3), but my work computer says it is unlicensed & when I direct it to my license file it gives me that error message (but then randomly the other day it decided that it was licensed after all? It's broken again since)
If you think what you suggested will help go ahead & I'll let you know what happens; otherwise we can try the second option.
Can you explain what the "msg_validation_error Request to Sketchucation = ERROR_A0C" means? Is it saying my computer is unable to contact the SketchUcation servers for validation?
Thanks!

Corneydj,
I updated my private messaging option. My apologies.
According to Gábor, the ERROR_A0C error message is thrown when the hostname of the computer does not match the hostname stored in the SCFLicenseSignature - DO NOT MODIFY OR DELETE.txt file. Erasing the file from the folder where the licensing info is stored might help with addressing issue.
I have reset your licence at the server side. Now, you will have to erase the signature file and reactivate your licence. Please refer to ClothWorks Licensing Manual page 4, Known Issue issue section, for resetting your licence: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1QLzrBm5Qy7ZQh56HNqRl_LjqxNhgd9dO
If that doesn't work, I will send you a private message regarding the second option.
Best regards,
Anton

Cool! That seems to have fixed it for now - thanks I'll keep an eye on it though & if it breaks again I'll message you.
Thanks for the help!

Hi,
Probably the fastest solution for the problem is the same: Find on your computer the SCFLicenseSignature - DO NOT MODIFY OR DELETE.txt file and erase it. It should help to solve the problem.
-
Have you also downloaded and installed the latest version of the SketchUcation-Toolset ?
It's needed for SCF-license compatibility with v2019.
Get v3.1.8 here:
https://sketchucation.com/pluginstore?pln=SketchUcationTools
Not having done so might be a factor ?Note that you do need an internet connection, but just for the initial setup of the license details...

Thank you. It actually worked for me as well.
My only concern now is that, according to Clothworks licence validation system, I have reached 3 installations. It is not true. I have 2 active installations (2 different computers). This is not an issue right now, but I'm afraid having the same licencing trouble in the future may prevent me to validate the plugin (once again).
Thank you anyways.

I've released 2 seats of your license at server-side. I hope it allays your concern.

In case of windows it is at
C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\SCF Licenses\SCFLicenseSignature - DO NOT MODIFY OR DELETE.txt
so in case of MAC it should be somewhere under~/Library/Application Support
I suppose but I do not have a MAC so it would be nice if a MAC user could conform it. -

On sketchup go to Extensions/Clothworks/License/History/License file location -

hello
I had the same trouble with my licence. I fixed it when i erase the file SCFLicenseSignature - DO NOT MODIFY OR DELETE.txt but now the number of seats is wrong. I use one and the licence say I use 2....
Can you help me please?
Thanks a lotVanina

Hello Vanina,
I reset your license seats at the server side. If you click on the Seats... button, within the licensing dialog, the correct value should be reflected. If not, delete the SCFLicenseSignature - DO NOT MODIFY OR DELETE.txt and activate the license again.
Thank you,
Anton -

Thank you,
AntonI am not able to delete DO NOT MODIFY OR DELETE.txt simply because the 'Open File Location' tab no longer works. I click on it and it no longer shows the File Location.
How do I locate the text files on a Mac?
