Haven't been doing much SU lately. Migrated from the preliminary design stages and have moved onto installation of collections on this museum project I've been working on for what seems like forever. Finally took some time in the evening to put together a render of a ranch house I modeled. Added a couple of low poly homes in the background to give the neighborhood a little more lived in look. Played around trying some different things with my overlays for the final image. Rendered in Twilight and post pro in Gimp. Going to try and play with it some more, try some different approaches. Comments always welcome. tuna.

That is as classic a ranch house as they come. β˜€

I like the render style as well. πŸ‘

Nice. Are the bathroom fixtures turquoise or harvest gold.

Or avocado green. Before long, today's stainless steel will be yesterday's harvest gold/avocado green (and I can hardly wait for the day).

Nice model and rendering. It's nice to see NPR stuff.

Ha! Yeah, pink. I lived in a 1960s house and it had a very pink bathroom. Very nice tile work, but pink.

When I was a kid we lived in a L-shaped ranch similar to this one. It was green - inside and out!

I've lived in a few of these in California. The most common configuration I've seen is the garage in the front and the house in the back (opposite of this). You walk to the entrance along the side of the garage. The kitchen is on the garage hand, the bedrooms on the other, the living room is straight ahead. But the houses I lived in as a kid all had a garage in the back, most often on the alley. Often detached.

Daniel, I get the green. House I grew up in down in Florida had a green family room with dark green, light green shag carpet. Got to love the 60's.

pbacot, One of the things I find real interesting about the 50's, 60's ranch homes is the varied differences in style , depending on the region. Cool thing about the neighborhood I grew up in, was mostly ranch style , but each had a unique look. Not the cookie cutter you see today were it seems every other home is the same.

                              HornOxx, Much appreciated, thanks.

The suburb our ranch house was in had about 4 or five house designs, but even though you could recognize the design, no two were alike. The developer changed each one - they were mirrored, the brick/siding was changed, windows, etc. Nowadays they really are identical cookie cutter houses.
