Need help constructing a sofa with subd
-
Wow. This one looks perfect. You are a real master. How did you do that?
-
I forget to save modeling process step by step. Started modeling from the sides. Used two plugins: Vertex tools and Extrude edges by rails
-
OK, I understand the first pic.
but how to get to the thrid dimension?
-
OK, so far, so nice. But now is my problem... how to go on?
-
Stick to very primitive forms then refine...
keep refining as you go...
i would have shared the file but i got this from SU...
-
looks effektive and simple.
I am going to try it again....
not too bad I hope
-
Excellent!
-
Easiest thing to learn is proxy modelling. You're a natural at it too.
-
Thank you for your help. I am really not into proxymodelling... but result is quite well.
-
I think that looks like a fine result, I have problems with proxies too so appreciate how difficult it can be to get your mind around the method.
-
What is the difference between a Proxy and a simple 3D object?
State before subdivision ? -
Made short but not full sofa modeling process, here you can download pdf tut

Wow! Extra Wow! This is really useful.
I will try to reconstruct it and post my results....
-
... this is an excelent tutorial example here - thanks to all!
-
Thanks for the tut.
-
Here's my new attempt
-
...as expected with you - a great result
Even the seams you've done - are these simple follow-me shapes? -
-
Yes, I've took also pipe along path.
It was a mix between Artisan und SubD. My proxy wasn't able for SubD, but Artisan worked very well
here's a view of my final proxy before subdivision:
-
btw: Exactly this view will be reality in about two months. I will post a pic, when everything is finished.
