[Plugin] Smooth Zoom 2.1.0 - 24 October 2021
-
Ever since the 12/5 update, Smooth Zoom causes errors when opening SketchUp 2015. See attached image.
The only way to prevent these errors is by disabling Smooth Zoom from loading. But then I can't activate it!
I'm using SU 2015. It worked fine, until the latest updated via the ExtensionStore 3.0.
Anyone else have this issue? Any suggestions?
Dave.

Hello davecoopstl, based on an error, it seems that you don't have AMS Library plugin installed or your AMS Library copy has some components missing. Try reinstalling AMS Library and AMS Smooth Zoom and see how it goes.

Hi Anton,
Is there any way you could update this to work with 2019?
Thanks!

Hi Chris,
I updated SmoothZoom for SU2019 compatibility.

are you planing on making a mac version? I think the accelerometer could be very useful and smooth with this plug in

Mac OS X has a completely different API. I do not know if there is a way to hack into a Mac OS X SketchUp window to take control of the the mouse wheel input. That is sure possible with Windows API but probably not with Mac OS X API, Carbon or Cocoa.
I know that zooming with laptop mouse pads already eliminates the bumpiness from zoom. Perhaps a better mouse wheel hardware is a solution.

Hi, I just upgraded from Sketchup 2019 to 2021 and noticed this plugin doesn't appear to work for the new version. Is there a chance that it will be updated to work with the new version of Sketchup? Is there an alternative? Thank you!

Same here.
It was working on 2020 but it isn't anymore on 2021..So sad!

Announcing version 2. This one should not interfere with any tools. The way this works is it suppresses existing mouse wheel messages with deltas of 120 and in turn sends multiple subsequent mouse wheel messages with smaller deltas, yielding smoother transition effects. Let me know if this works, so that I can decide how to proceed with this. Options to adjust zoom intensity will be added soon. Thanks!
By the way, this is still Windows only, for now (SU6-SU2021). I only tested this with SU2020 and SU2021 though. Also, AMS Library is not longer needed for this, so this is an independent plugin.

Wonderful!!! Thanks Anton!

Hello. Thank you very much for the useful plugin. It is very convenient.
After the update, the option menu disappeared. Please return it to adjust the speed. Thank you very much! -

Hey Anton, thank you so much for the update! For me personally I utilize this plugin in order prevent having to scroll a lot to get in and out of my models. I'm not necessarily particular about how smooth the zooming is. I just do a lot of large scale models, mainly floor plans for schools and office buildings and to get in and change a wall I have to scroll in a lot. I got around it temporarily by changing my Logitech mouse to treat one scroll wheel movement as 3 which was ok except when I had to use the save or open dialog box to scroll through files lol.
Again thank you so much for continuing to offer this capability. I can't wait until you add back the dialog to set the scroll distance as this helps so much.

Dear Anton_S, I have been using your plugin for a very long time, it greatly facilitates daily work in SU.
I personally express my point of view, but your plugin, up to version <2.0, was more convenient for me. Scrolling was smoother and easier to work with. Going back to the old version of Smooth Zoom again.... -

Hi.
Now I have version 1.3.0a installed with settings:
Intenstity 0.8
Transition Time 1.25
Update FPS 60
And it is very convenient for me to use. Smooth camera movement, which I can stop at any time, and this is very convenient)
With these settings it sometimes slows down, but only when my SU model is filled with models with a lot of polygons.
I installed version 2.0, the movement of the camera did not suit me, and I could not change the characteristics of the camera in the menu. I had to return the old version 1.3.0a.
2.1 also did not suit me.
Once again, this is just my opinion))) For some, version 2.1 is more suitable)))
