How can I bevel an edge into TWO edges in sketchup?!
-
hi you all, i wonder if it's possible to bevel an edge into two edges like in other traditional 3d softwares? i have to move an edge to thee middle of a face, then copy that edge to the left and right to create equal edges. check the ref images, if my description confuses you.
thanks in advance.. if there is a plugin for that. it will be very helpful for me.

I don't see any bevel. I just see lines on the surface.

I suppose you want a line who cut the vertically the volume
then copy /move it for have 3 volumes partition ?Without plugin (that is a task for me!
The beauty of the thing is that you can move on the top any line of the rectangle or the rectangle itself!
Then PushPull when you have that you want!Only
Read image right to left!

And then you can move any face with + Alt !
But I am not not sure of what do want exactly!
An image before / after will be cool!

Hi
you can select a face, move/copy (M & ctrl)to desired position rather than edge by edge
if you require a internal bevel, then place 3 faces , select center edges and scale to a reference
the beauty of Sketchup is realising the control and simple multiple functions in
using the keypad shortcutslike autofold.... M & alt

I see what you mean, but as far as I know there is no tool that would split an edge like you want.
There are some walkarounds though ![web 100%,396:17qk6e2k]http://www.screenr.com/embed/YrTN[/web:17qk6e2k]

On the cube, offset one line by the correct distance. Copy-move the resulting rectangle off to the side. Remove the original line. Move the rectangle onto the cube by grabbing it at the midpoint. Snap to midpoint on cube. sounds long but much less tedious.
