HI everyone, What is the tool to lock selection?. I know that we can lock objects, so it cant be edited. Im aware that we can lock layers but can we lock selection so we can not select anything else until the selection is unlocked?

Right-click on selection, and "lock" πŸ˜‰

As for layers, it's not possible natively, but you can do it in my plugin "Layers Panel". But remember it only prevent the locked layers to be deleted or purged from within the plugin.

Yes, your plugin is so nice and useful. But what I meant by "lock selection" is not to lock the objects but only the selection. Meaning if I have 3 objects selected, and lock it, I wont be able to select any other object in the scene. In this way, I can make sure, I wont be able to select any other object in the scene, In case I want to manipulate them. This is a very useful toggle button in 3ds max.

There isn't an option like that in SketchUp. Just keep your finger off the left mouse button or change the tool to something other than the Select tool.

Component Instances and Groups separate objects and also allow themselves to be locked/unlocked [use a shortcut key K/shift+K ?]
Selected geometry cannot be locked in this way... but shortcut keys to make it into a group, then lock it will do what you want... to reverse that use more shortcut keys to unlock that selected group and then explode it back into its original context...

Also remember that you can add/remove objects from your selection using combinations of ctrl & shift keys and single/double/treble clicking...

I think there is a plugin here about selection memory. You can't lock your selection but, at least you can bring it back.
