Readding faces to complex face
-
hello,
is there a way to re-add a deleted face to a complex face? usually i just draw 1 line that is coplanar on the face and it works, but in this case it doesnt. i need to add a line every few meters to slowly readd parts of the face, and then afterwards manually delete the lines.. i tried it with skinning function of curviloft and an old plugin called "add faces", both dont work (the latter even crahses) -
It would be helpful to see an example.

Some complex faces won't auto-form when you over-draw an edge, even when all of the edges are all known to be coplanar.
In that case I'd draw a diagonal, this usually forms one face using that new edge, them draw in some more diagonals until the face is re-formed. Keep the new faces relatively simple so they auto-form.
Use the Erase tool to wipe over and erase the now redundant coplanar edges that you added.
If the new face vanishes when one of those edges is erased, then it means the original edge-set is NOT coplanar and cannot support a single face... -
ok seems there is no way around manual labor :X btw tig, i used your plugin "drop vertices" to make sure all lines are coplanar
here is the "face".. its a network of streets. fun times ahead of me.. but thanks for suggestions guys!

If you got a bunch of them to do maybe you want to try a different tack. Use the Rectangle tool to draw a large face that is coplanar with your flattened geometry. Make the face larger than the map. Select it all and use Intersect Faces>With Selection. Then delete what you don't need. If the map is all flat, the faces should remain filled.
