A little store designed by Japanese studio General Design: "it consists of an enclosed concrete box with three skylights in the roof. The interior features three split levels and uses only three materials: concrete, oak and galvanized steel".
Although it is a small and bare space, the way in which the light penetrates the volume and the internal partition give to it the monumentality of a church in my opinion.Modeled in Sketchup and rendered in Thea.
For lighting were used sun+physical sky (for the dusk shot, instead, was used a Peter Guthrie's HDRI), two recessed emitting tubes on floor's borders, IES lights for the projectors and a handful of recessed coloured spots with little omnilights inside.
A slight saturation and contrast correction + diffusion in Magic bullet photolooks in post pro. The images were also resized.

Hi Massimo,
A few years ago I switched from using v-ray rendering engine to thea render, since that day the high quality of your work has become an example for me to follow, and a target to reach.
As always, a wonderful job, the lighting is just great, and materials where excellent. The slight noise produced from the unbiased engine (I suppose) gives to the images an incredible photo-realistic touch.
Some more info on the concrete and steel material settings?
Veramente bravo!!

Incredible but where do you plug in the vacuum?
-
Thanks guys.
@large_black: indeed it was an unbiased engine (TR1). The materials settings are quite simple. The texture required a bit of work instead. I did it by mixing in PS a base texture with some overlayed images for each panel. Then was overlayed an image with the leaks. Here you have the structure of the two materials, the steel one was downloaded on Thea's forum. Just did some minor adjustments.

perfectly executed massimo! textures are just lovely, love the patina.

Lovely space indeed. It's really nice what they did with just a box, three pieces of floor and three skylights.

Wow top notch stuff.
