[REQ] Plugin Multi-View Elevations
-
The easiest way to explain what I want is this symbol.
I would like to have a way to drop in "something" that would produce 4 scenes in a parallel view, with each of the directional views in succession, preferably named in accordance with some method.
Perhaps a plugin can't accomplish this... perhaps it can? Any ideas?

Hi,
Let me see if I understood right...
You want a plugin that prepare 4 side elevation for each group or component?
This will mean that if you have 2 components you want to apply plugin to then it will create total of 8 scenes for creating 4 elevation for each?
The whole trick here I guess is to center camera position for each group or component before making scenes.
Note: I think this might be possible to do indeed but I have not tested it myself. Anyways if I ever make some tests I'll let you know...cheers!

no, not components... views of the entire model.
the symbol represents a drawing like this.

Let me give it another try to see if I fully got it...
Do you just want the plugin to create 4 scenes with each containing an elevation view like the ones you get from Camera > Standard Views > Front, Back, Left , Right ?
Do you also want for each scene to be named in specific way?...Maybe have view-port text to be changed from default, for example Front, Back, left, Right to something else?
Note: If this is right then it will be much easier than the last one I thought to be. Anyways sorry if I am asking too many questions.

Search for Default Scenes in the PluginStores.

yes but the front back right and left will all be inverted... instead of all four viewing inwards toward one point they would all view outwards away from the central point...
@Rich I don't think that will do it. I have a template with all my common scenes, front, rear, left, right, roof, foundation, level I etc. etc.
But this one you would have to edit each scene each time because these interior elevations are done for multiple rooms, which are always in different locations in the model.

Very good plugin indeed...thanks Rich O Brien!

ask all the questions you want Rafael...

Thanks I will! Just want to understand every detail before trying to solve it.

Can you offer some examples that will aid me understand this concept of inverting views because I am not quite understanding it.
Thanks!

Sure... Here's a break down of how it works.
-
Very clever idea!
Ok I think I got it but just in case...
You want to place that decal that have arrows with A, B, C, D and plugin will recognize its position and place camera origin on center of that to capture elevation from there?
This is a Brilliant idea!
-
yes, exactly... 4 elevations or even better if I could choose how many, because this symbol is used with 1,2,3,4 or even more directions. but normally no more than 4.

I can't take credit for it... some guy way back in drafting history came up with it... or maybe his wife.

I gotcha...going to my lab an will report to you soon!

wrings hands and waits with bated breath...

One thing to keep in mind while making this. If the scene order is right it should make a good basis for a standard animation.
I just had fish for dinner, so mine is baited breath.

Hi,
Any ideas on what will be the name of this plugin?
Cheers!
-
The name of the symbol is an Elevation Marker. Perhaps "MarkerMaker"?
-
The name is important since it will give a hint as to what the plugin do.
"Marker Maker" - Is good
"Elevation Maker" - Maybe good as well?
Anyways no hurry for this but its nice to start exploring ideas.
