      "Its structure is made in brass, covered by a golden bath just like real trumpets are".

        Really cool lamp. Is it an actual product or yours?

          What's going on in that filament?

          You know why I need to know...

          It's great BTW

            The master at work.

            Beautiful convincing DOF, the subject lends itself well to the effect.

              Thanks guys. πŸ˜„
              @John: no it's designed and produced by a Portuguese company;
              @Rich: the filament is a tube with a fluorescent 65W warm Thea's emitter mat applied on it. Rendered with TR2 SS-->high. In the darkroom I've applied at the end a radial glare with weight=1% and radius=2%. The bulb has thickness and is a thin glass. That's all I believe;

              indeed, almost a natural DOF.

                          Can't really add much more. Great choice of subject and perfect materials and lighting.

                          Did you use HDRI for lighting, or did you throw in some emitters?

                            Thanks Tadema & David. πŸ˜„
                            David, I've used a HDRI by Debevec called "Ennis Brown" which suits quite well for this kind of subjects/materials. Anyway emitting planes are also very good for this kind of scene since you can have more control. Then I've placed the lamp in the screen you see in the picture below quite near to the wall since I wanted to see some light projected on the wall in the centre of the image.

                            Finally I'm glad you like the mats: the plated brass is made with a stacked brass&gold nk mats using a grey map with stains in weights in order to have a subtle transition between the two metals in some parts.

                                Sounds like a good use of materials.....I just knew you had done something interesting in the mix πŸ‘
