Yes. There is. It's been out for awhile, now. Lots of discussion here on the forum if you browse a little bit.

You ought to download it and give it a try.

If you're asking if it is a free upgrade, no. It is a different version. There is an upgrade charge which is much lower than the price for a new user.

What are the features of this update? is there any videos showing whats new on it?

there are, but to me the advantages are not quite clear, neither is the fact that an upgrade is possible, and of course cheaper than a new licence.
I had to go look for that.
Also, on first impression, an upgrade only gives right to further upgrades within a limited time of one year.
I wonder if this is sloppy communication, or if we are going to be milked for ever after in the future, so maybe somone can put my mind at ease

I don't think it should have taken much searching. Click on Buy and then Upgrade. It's preety clearly spelled out.

          Price to Upgrade:

          $95 USD for a single-user license
$150 USD per seat for network licenses

Upgrading to SketchUp 2013 gives you SketchUp 2013 and LayOut 2013. The features are available on the website so I'm not going to waste time repeating them here.

They've always had an upgrade charge when advancing from one version to the next. If you consider that being milked, just stick with version 8. It's up to you.

Oooops, there seems to be a misunderstanding about my attitude, Dave:
I am not looking for a free ride
I started with google sketchup, the free version, like I imagine everybody else
as soon as I was convinced of the immense value of the program, I bought the pro version, even while I never used Layout
I like to pay for services rendered, if you have any doubts, ask ThomThom
So I consider $95 very good value for money for a major Sketchup upgrade, if there is a real difference (I still have to find out)

            about sloppy communication:
why is it that when in Sketchup I click on update, sketchup answers that I have the newest version, while there clearly is a new version available, although not for free?

and why must I first click on "buy" before I can find out that an upgrade is also possible?

            last but not least:
history of Sketchup shows an average of 3 years between major upgrades:

What's New? Well, about the biggest thing ever: we've been Googled,'" wrote Brad Schell. January 9, 2007 saw the release of SketchUp 6 featuring some new tools along with a Beta version of Google SketchUp LayOut. On September 1, 2010 the latest version of SketchUp 8 was released. It has the improvements like geo location, match photo, color imagery and building maker integration.

the new licence clearly states that updates are limited to one year:
"By purchasing an upgrade to SketchUp 2013, you are also receiving one year of maintenance and support for SketchUp Pro. This entitles you to any SketchUp Pro updates that occur within your maintenance and support period."

while $100 per year is of course peanuts for real pro users, it is a lot of money for honest amateurs like me who wish to support the program

            greets
            Frank

That's for revisions to the version you have open, not new versions. It's always been that way.

Trimble have committed to annual version releases. So you aren't paying $95 a year to continue using SketchUp. If you choose to update SketchUp 2013 to SketchUp 2014 when that time comes, you'll pay the upgrade charge. If not, you can go along using SketchUp 2013. After the next version comes out, there'll cease to be any updates to the previous version. In the same way there won't be any changes to v8 now.

                You sure?
I see SU8 not giving notice about 2013.

But my SU6 and SU7 gives me a notice.

correction, Thomthom: I never pretended that you need to pay anually $95 to continue using any older version, I merely pointed out that from version 2013 on you will have to pay this money anually, even for updates of the 2013 Pro version you already have, even if it is not a major update

But they won't be making updates to 2013 pro after they release 2014 pro.

Thomthom, Although I've been using SketchUp since V3, I don't remember that far back but SU7.1 didn't give the notice for update to V8.

hmmm... and now I cannot test it as SU6 and SU7 updaters don't work - probably points to Google servers.

But I imagine being annoyed of the updater messages when I started SU6/7 just to test a plugin - that it would keep nagging me about updating.

Maybe I'm being stupid but when I get to the update page all the downloads are for the whole program, not updates.

When there's an update to SketchUp it is sent out as the whole package. They don't send just those parts that have been updated. When you install the updated version it writes over what it needs to.
