Make faces in curved frame
-
hello,
i just went thru all my rubies, but somehow i cannot find one for genereting faces in a curved frame:has anybody a tip for a ruby, which can generate a face in a structure, as shown in the picture atached?
thanx a lot and merry xmas to all of you!

Try CurviLoft or one of my ExtrudeEdgesBy... tools - e.g EEbyRails [provided that you have 4 welded curves - Divide the vertical edges into a few parts and immediately use Weld to make them into Curves]...
OR since it looks quite simple, you could also use EEbyVector on one preselected Arc, pulling it up vertically into a surface... -
hi tig,
hi tig,
yes, that works, thanx for the advise of welding the lines into curves, that was , what made EE by rails (which i tried before already) not working.
great! thank you a lot!merry xmas !

or more simply, use the sketchup pencil tool to draw a line between the bottom endpoints of the curve, to make a flat face. Then pull that face upwards to the top of curve and delete the extra faces that get made in the process.

hi mr. fulmer,
yes, i chose a wrong example, because sometimes the curve has an s-form , so connection of endpoints does not create a face (without further intersections).
but you are right in that case....
regards and thanx

stanNot with one extra line, but with two or three ...

Still just one line in your example, cotty.

Hi folks.
There is more than a straight line that can be used to close a face from ends of arcs. This simplify works by avoiding unnecessary intersections. See this SU file for ideas.
