Rounded corner plugin - need help
-
Hello there...
I just download rounded corner plugin and also libredo6.
I install in my laptop (macbook pro). I use sketch up pro 8.
I can see the toll box but when i start to run the program it won't
working (my skethup program is "crush" - makes me do the "force quit" the program)
Can anybody give me the solution ? I really need the rounded corner plugin.Cheers

You haven't given much information. On what are you trying to run the plugin? What settings have you made when you try to run it? Have you tried it on a very simple bit of geometry? Maybe you didn't install the plugin correctly. Do you get any error messages when SketchUp starts? So many possible problems with so little information to go on.

hi dave,
I am using sketch up pro 8 and my OS is lion os X.
I made a simple cube with 100 cm wide & tall.
I click one of the corner using rounded corner which is automatically open when I started sketchup (i am sure that there is no error message when I open it) just like the other plugin I put the plugin into my plugin folder.
Should i need to do any setting to operate rounded corner plugin ? ... but the other plug in i install have no problem at all & I don't need to made any setting.... i did watch the video on youtube & I followed it : made a shape, click the rounded corner tool, then click the corner / line / all geometry / then click to run ... event I tried to resize the corner radius (offset radius)..... then nothing happened but crush my sketch up operation.
really need help.Cheers

I don't quite understand what you are doing. Probably a language thing. Anyway, take a look at this quick video.

It works the same way on my Mac, too.
Activate the tool. Set the radius as needed.
Click on the edges to be rounded. Do you see the colored lines when you do this?
Move the cursor off the geometry and click.Have you tried running it with the Ruby Console open? Do you get any messages then?
-
Dear Dave,
Yes.. I did the same way. the same line, the same color (red is the corner & 2 green is the rounded radius), even i tried to change the radius the green line is changed.... but when I click off the geometry only show (sand time / waiting) i tried to wait and leave it and go to get my dinner for 1 hour still the waiting cursor still there while my geometry not change.... no messages ... there is no other way but to force quit my sketchup.
I don't quite understand of "ruby console open" can you explain ?
Cheers

How many segments have you set for the rounding? In my example it's only 6.
the Ruby Console is found under the Window menu. Select it and then try running the plugin. Do you get any messages in the console window?
-
i try only 1 segment.... i have only a box geometry and I click the rounded corner, then I select one of the segment on my box.
I already open the ruby console and there is nothing message there....
i don;t know what to do. -
Are you running Mountain Lion?
Check to see that the Plugins folder has read and write permissions set to allow.
Post a screen shot of your Plugins folder, please.
-
i am using macbook pro os Lion X 10.7.3 - it's not a mountain lion.
I put my plug in at : Macintosh HD / Library / application support / google sketch up 8 / sketch up / plugins
Note : There is no other sketch up I installed in my laptop.
Just for your info that other plugin I put on the same folder and all is running well.
By the way how can I post a screen shot (put attachment on this post) ? .....
cheers

I wonder if it's an OpenGL setting issue. Go to the SketchUp menu (to the left of File) and choose Preferences>OpenGL and change the settings for Use Hardware Acceleration and/or Use Fast Feedback.
-
If you don't had full [read/write] permissions for the 'plugins' folder and all of its contents... then although you might have managed to wedge the files/folders in there and they appear to work at least initially, there are still some potential issues: e.g. Fredo's tools [and several others] need to write log/temp files into the 'plugins' folder, and/or make special subfolders for their own use... So if the permissions are at all restrictive you can get weirdness happening...
If you try the tool with the Ruby Console open what error messages [if any] do you get ? -
for the openGL setting :
(checked) Use hardware acceleration
(not checked) Use maximum texture size
(checked) Use fast feedback
Here i attached the rounded corner display on my sketch up & the folder.
cheers

Did you check the permissions for the Plugins folder as both TIG and I suggested?
Make sure you have both read and write permissions.Did you try changing the OpenGL settings?
-
really sorry but how do I do the permission ?
-
this is the open GL setting
-
Navigate to the Plugins folder. Right click on it and choose Get Info. In the lower right corner click on the lock to unlock it and then change all of the permissions to Read and Write.

Twice I've told you to try changing it. Might as well skip it now, though.
-
You seem to have some of the files/subfolder that Fredo's tools make, so it's unlikely to a be permissions issue...
You do have a very old version of LibFredo [37?]
The current one is 47 ! Get it here...

Hi, I am really sorry for such several days not appear since not see the next page ... sorry.
So still on the topic that my plugin (round corner) is not working.
Here is the steps I already did :- I download the libfred06 (the updated one)
- I download the round corner
- I delete my old sketch up & i install the new version (sketch up pro
with "red box" icon - previous
icon is house & pencil - I install all the plugin : libred06 & round corner in my plugin folder
macintosh HD/library/application support/google sketchup8/ sketch up/plugins - I do the permission for my folder to be "Read & Write" for all (system, admin & everyone)
- I did the OpenGL : Use hardware acceleration (checked)
Use maximum texture size (unchecked)
Use fast feedback (checked) - I do the round corner with ruby console open (no pop up appear) -- still the same
that the program is "hang" - so I force quite my sketch up program
I don't know what else to do
.. in the mean time I really need this round corner soooo bad...
please .. please please help....
