Vray render time
-
Hi! I'm new in this forum and I'm very happy that all of you are helping each other with the problems that sketchup is causing.
So here is mine. I'm trying to render a model, which was made 3 or 4 years ago. Now I'm using sketchup7 pro, and obviously the version I draw my model was older. The scene I'm trying to render is simple, the file is 12MB, but it still doesnt render. I open it with sketchup7 and everything looks ok, but when i try render it it doesn't work. No error message is coming up, but vray dialogue box looks like it is on stand by. And all of this makes me think that it has something to do with the older version of sketchup that I drawed my model with. Any ideas or tips? -
A few things we need to know are.
- what version of vray are you using?
- did the previous version you modeled with have an older version of vray?
3.have you tried to reset the default options on vray and force a sync of all the materials?
-
I use vray 1.05.30
The previous version I modeled with didn't have vray at all. At that time i still didn't know how to use it.
I just tryed to render it with the default options on vray and it works and that's kind of weird because a couple of hours ago I rendered another model(which is made on sketchup7) with options on vray which I made and they are deffinitely working. Then I tryed them on the old model and nothing. Thank you for this idea. At least we know that something can be done and try for better results.
I don't know how to force a sync on all the materials -

Its in the debug menu. It basically resets all the materials to default in Vray. I recommend this if someone takes a file from 1.49.01 and tries to render it in 1.05.30. There were a lot of changes to material behaviors between the 2 releases and opening it in the earlier version could create issues. Same goes for visopt settings. My recommendation is to update to 1.49.01 - Although buggy, its still a better product than 1.05.30 by far.

I almost haven't used 1.49.01. I just tryed it and I wasn't very happy with it because it was that buggy and it was taking even more time to render, so I switched to 1.05.30. I don't have a big success with resolving my problem. Thank you anyway If something comes up in your mind, please share it with me

Tha same thing has happened to me when I used this version of Vray...very annoying

It's buggy but I dont think 1.05.30 is a better product. Just the ambient occlusion, IES files, and transparent PNGs are enough to convince me to deal with the bugs. As for the debug menu, you have to go to Plugins - VRay - Help - Debugging. There are a few options in there. Beware that this will reset all materials in your file to defaults.

Yea - 1.05.30 is more stable - but the features of 1.49.01 is so good that I can't ignore it. Fortunately a new beta should start soon.
