      Hello All
Can someone help me understand the differences when opening a new SU window on a pc than on a Mac. I've used a Mac for ages but recently I've started using a pc.
when i open a new window on the Mac, Sketchup opens window after window. when i open a new window on the Pc it shuts the previous window and open a new one.

To get multiple windows open - i open an existing project using windows explorer, and can have multiple projects going, but as soon as i want a fresh window, it will close what i am working on
      (file-Open or CTRL+O)

So using explorer is the only way - enlighten me sketchucation!!

      c

Yes, you need to launch a new instance of SketchUp, just execute the shortcut again to start with a new fresh model. On Windows each model is a separate instance, while on OSX SU is an MDI application.

ps - plugins certainly work better on a PC.

Something i need to also understand is the difference in saving

            The file names change sometimes
            example

            doc1.skp is what i opened
            gets changed to 0.skp
            then 1.skp
            for the most recent......

            whys this?

0.skp, 1.skp is temp files SketchUp to to write to, once the model is successfully written to file the 0.skp file will replace the original and 0.skp will be removed.

                      Am i doing something wrong?

They should not remain - something strange is going on. Where are you storing your files? Network drive?

                            i've experienced another difference.
(PC) I resized the viewport and all the tool bars I'd arranged neatly are now haphazardly all over the place. ?

Yes. This is a normal sort of thing. After you put the toolbars where you want them, go to View>Toolbars and choose Save toolbar (or whatever it says.) In the future you can choose Restore Toolbars to reset them after resizing the window.
