Is it Possible to put a Texture to V-plane?

Is it Possible to put a Texture to V-plane /infinite ground plane in vray 1.49.01 for sketchup??
-
no.
-
Actually - would it be possible as long as you use the vray uv setting instead of from SU? I'll try it when I have a chance.
-
I understand... thanks Eidam , Andy!! Well, I'll try it another way.
-
i read somewhere that the VRay plane cannot be textured (accepts only the color from SU's material).
andy, i've no idea what exactly you mean i'd be very eager to see your results.

if you use UV mapping of "UVWGenPlanarWorld" for your material, you can use a texture on the infinite plane. The repeat amount is inverse (for example 8" = 0.125 repeat) Here's an example

Amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you so much Andy!!!

handy trick

this is awesome. i just tried to apply a bump texture with the same method, and it works.
i wonder why is this not in any pdf manual?EDIT: displacement doesn't work.
-
soooo - i'm not getting this.
i created an infinite plane - applied my texture to the infinite plane. hit render - nothing.
andy - can you explain the 8"=.125 ?
thanks

Thanx a lot, itΒ΄s first time I see the answer !!
To be more precise, and for those who work in other units than inches like in Europa, let's take an example :
Wood parquet floor in SU : go and check texture size by clicking on Edit in SU Materials.
I work in cm, so it tells me : 304.8 cm x 121.9 cm.You convert in inches (1 inch = 2.54 cm), or for lazy bums, you go and change units in Model info / units.
So it turns that texture size is 120" x 48".
Take the smaller value, and inverse : 1/48 = 0.02Fill in Repeat on 3 axis (even though this a 2D image) : X 0.02, Y 0.02 Z 0.02
And thatΒ΄s it !
