there is a 33 page user manual for new version. It doesn't give tips in detail. πŸ˜› is there any detailed manual for version 1.49 as well??

For detailed info on V-Ray, look at this manual: http://www.spot3d.com/vray/help/150SP1/

Got lots of examples and description.

V-Ray is V-Ray regardless of the host application, don't be afraid to look at resources on V-Ray set in another 3d app.

And here is the original manual for the older version, but a bunch of the material is still relevant.

is there a better link/book/website for vray for sketchup tutorials.?? [ i tried videos, they aren't good]. I figured out that i wont be needing too much of technicalities, just simple plain settings information. like just changing some settings and rest keeping to default. reading too much will actually be a detailed research information overload bomb blast ! πŸ˜†

V-ray really is not a simple rendering engine. I would say that if you can get through the PDFs I posted and all the YouTube videos that Chaos has posted, you will be in good shape. There is still a lot more to learn after that though. It's really just the tip of the iceberg. CG School has some pay videos which really explain the engine in detail. If you are looking for simple, I would suggest one of the less complicated engines such as Podium or Light Up.

If you see any video tutorial, I would recommend starting with this one

There are lots more from chaosgroup and asgvis, but I think this one helps explain lighting very well.
