I just used rectangle tool to draw then push pull to an object. I don't know if it's geo located.
I will look into it .so
There is no way of finding out the xyz values of the world?
Getting the xyz values of a vertex of an object is very easy, by using the text tool, like you said!!
But why is it so hard to get the xyz values of the world?

Answer this question first: Where in the world is your rectangle? The only thing SketchUp knows about location is where it's own origin is. That is 0,0,0.

What are you expecting it to tell you. It's at 000 of your model, unless it is geo located that is all it can tell you.

So? You're asking for world coordinates. Where on the planet is that rectangle supposed to be? At this point the only location datum you have is 0,0,0, the origin of the model space. If you want to know where on the planet the rectangle is located, you need to give SketchUp some idea by geo-locating your model. Then the plugin that Kristoff linked to can give you those world coordinates.

Wow. Never knew. I just assumed when I draw an object, the object will have the xyz values of the world relating to the world origin. Guess my assumption is so wrong!

I use sketchup mainly for furniture making and Not buildings that have to be geo correct.
I will try the plugin and geo locate tmr.
                  Thanks for the help.

SketchUp has no idea where your computer is relative to the Equator and Prime Meridian.

sketchuh, yes all these 3D systems use X,Y,Z coords to locate everything, they all use it, just some don't show it as much. While sketchup has that info, it doesn't really show it to you because it's a simpler system. That plugin will allow you to click anywhere and get coords for that spot.

Perhaps not if you're the paranoid sort.
