Different units for dimensioning
-
i'm working on a model with millimetres as its units. However i want my dimensions to show lengths in metres. How can I do it?
-
Have you tried changing the Units in Model Info?
-
Dimensions are always displayed in the current units.
If you want meters set Model Info > Units to meters.
However then all lengths etc are reported, and are input in meters, although you can still type in lengths in mm - if you type '100' you get a line 100m long but type '100mm' to make it 0.1m - you can input length in ANY units irrespective of the model's units IF you suffix it with the appropriate unit-string...

When converting Cad dxf files to sketchup, the original Cad file units must be converted to Sketch units. I erroneously assumed this to be the case within SketchUp. That is not the case, and the reason I have deleted the post.

well i'd make my question more specific. i'm talkin' about the linear dimension that appear, using the dimension tool. i want them to appear in metres

I think it's just too much for Dave to come over to your place and perform his suggestion on your PC.
In other words, try his suggestion and you shall have meters displayed.
Some extra notes: you can change dimension text, converting it into plain text that doesn't follow any geometrical changes anymore.
To restore the connection, replace the text again by <> or add <> somewhere in the (dimension-)text. -

We all understood your question. I don't know how much more simply we could have answered it.
Thank you Gerrit. You're right.
