Some days ago Viztecture post some questions about DR Spawner in this topic: http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=322&t=38848#p343099
I try to make a tiny guide to explain the process.

Sorry about my English but is not my native language

Firs of all, you have to connect yours PCs in a LAN (Local Area Network) and know what IP address have each one. By default Windows OS come with DHCP activated, which mean it's the hub that assign the IP address for each pc.
In my case, for practical reason I make my LAN with static IPs. The default IP address is 192.168.xx.xx. I use another because I manually assign IP address to a specific PC. I use 172.16.25.xx

Ok, going back to IPs issue, to know what is the IP address of each PC, in the windows star menu, choose run and then CMD. A window like this should be appearing:

      http://img20.imageshack.us/img20/8890/19062011125919pm.jpg

Inside the DOS windows, you have to type ipconfig and then key enter o intro and look like this

      http://img10.imageshack.us/img10/2743/19062011010434pm.jpg

In my case, my IP address is 172.16.25.7 this can be done in each PC that you want to connect whit DR Spawner

Second important thing, probably you have installed V-ray without Distributed Rendering Spawner, again run the installer an choose only the DR Spawner option.

      http://img546.imageshack.us/img546/4115/19062011011025pm.jpg

Once the DR Spawner is installed in each PC you have to run, in theory is in the Windows start->Programs->V-ray for Sketchup->Distributed Rendering Spawner. When you run the DR Spawner a window like this should appear

      http://img90.imageshack.us/img90/6324/19062011011421pm.jpg

      Don`t close that window.

Third important thing, you have to set permissions in the windows firewall

      http://img405.imageshack.us/img405/3091/19062011012216pm.jpg

Ok, almost done, to make sure that the Master is connecting to other PCs run CMD again and type (in my LAN is) ping 172.16.25.xx -t where xx is the number or numbers assign to each PCs

      http://img862.imageshack.us/img862/8208/19062011012744pm.jpg

Now the LAN is ready to make a Distributed render

In V-ray Options->System check box ON and then click to the button with 3 points

      http://img835.imageshack.us/img835/8519/19062011014210pm.jpg

also check the box "Asset Collection" and "Send to each node"

      http://img805.imageshack.us/img805/7018/23102011064528pm.jpg

Here is for config the hosts (slaves) add server write the IP address and OK

      http://img685.imageshack.us/img685/8536/19062011014945pm.jpg

Entered all hosts or servers, click on the button resolve servers and check the IP addresses that we have entered.

      http://img805.imageshack.us/img805/8400/19062011015239pm.jpg

      Check box each server

      http://img339.imageshack.us/img339/7171/19062011015855pm.jpg

And done, Distributed Rendering Spawner it's configured.

      Distributed Rendering Spawner Off

      http://img17.imageshack.us/img17/5463/19062011020520pm.jpg

Distributed Rendering Spawner On At the begin

      http://img232.imageshack.us/img232/1843/19062011020846pm.jpg

Distributed Rendering Spawner On in the process

      http://img805.imageshack.us/img805/251/19062011021009pm.jpg

Distributed Rendering Spawner On almost finished

Does anyone else notice that DRSpawner is using massive amounts of CPU power? I have it installed on two dual-core computers and its taking up 50% of the CPU resources on each. Just wondering if this is by design or is it a bug.

Yes, it's exactly what it should be doing - making use of your CPU to render.

But that is without a render being started. I figured it would run idle until Vray calls upon it to start rendering. I figured I could leave it running on the slave computers but it seems like a lot of cpu strain for no reason. 😛

That ... is not normal... I have not seen that behaviour. I'd recommend you contact ASGVis Support.

                                    i have EXACTLY this issue.

i even posted about it on the old ASGVis forum, before it got changed to chaosgroup...
(this is mine, but i can't find the asgvis forum link anymore (surprisingly))

if anyone had any idea, about what's going on, i (we) would be glad.

rspierenburg, what OS and CPU do you have? i have the same issue with a 32bit Vista with Intel C2D SL9400 and 64bit Win7 with Intel C2D E8400. or is it maybe with the installation? (1.49.01)

                                    I'm using SketchUp 2017, V-Ray 3.4

I connected with a LAN cable a notebook (4 cores) to my MacBook Pro (2 cores).
I don't know if it should be like that, but the second pc kicks in only in the rendering phase, meaning that in the LC calculating phase it's only my main pc working.
Oh, and I did have some problem with the textured geometry, that came out rendered as solid color. It took me a while to figure out that all it takes is to check the "Asset Collection" box. Maybe you could add that to the tutorial.
btw is it better to use LAN connection rather wifi?

That depends on your wireless connection, if you have the same speed as your wired connection is the same thing. If not, the wired connection, most of the times is much faster than the WI-FI connection.

                                            Regards
