[Plugin] Circle from edge (2-pt circle,Updated 15/02/2016)
-
yes it works perfectly, also with number of edges and numeric value for the diameter
-
Cool
Not yet tested
But are you sure that you draw the good circle?
On the video we can see that you take 2 quasi oposites points but are you sure that is a diameter?
Or have you an algorithm who avoid that? -
Tested (all with 24 segments as default)
Cool but don't work if you don't take an "end point" on the original circle
(midpoint for example)
Circles will be not directly overlapsed -
Perhaps see my 2Dtool's 2Dcircle code for some cribs... they make circles by center+radius, three-points and diameter [two points]; with typed in dimensions and segmentation...
Its 2Dpolygon sibling is similar but also has polygon by side length option - useful for making pseudo-circles with a fixed segment length... -

Circles will be not directly overlapsedIn the first report script focuses on the endpoint bindings. What kind of plane it points parallel to the plane and added to the face
In this script focuses on the initial anchor point.

Not sure this plugin draw a circle. I have two other plugin, draw circle by two points, and draw a circle by 3 points and both of these plugin the circles drawn will have a diameter if dimension by the dimensioning tool. Using this plugin the drawn circle is a group of straight lines in a circle an can not be dimensioned.
Useful, however not a circle. And thank you for you work.

Updated the script in the first message
AddedShift left - the direction of drawing a circle blocks
Shift right - blocking the diameter of the circle
<- Left Arrow - Draw a circle perpendicular to x axis
-> arrow to the right - draw a circle perpendicular to the axis of
Up arrow - adds one hemisphere at the top
Down arrow - adds one side of the bottom -
Hi, sahi:
I was hoping for a little more explanation of the tool. I am not a good tester.Edit 05/19/11. Your latest update video explains well.

This is looking great, thanks.

This is looking like a keeper of a plugin. However, it does not make a circle or any geometry that Sketchup can input a center mark. Now, I know this does not seem important now, but later after push pulling, adding multiple circles, you will want to add dimensions or find the center and the geometry this plugin make you can not accomplish that task.
There is another 2 point circle plugin that does make geometry that you can get the dimensions and add a center point. Just pointing this out, as right now it makes more work later down the road than it should.
However, thanks for the plugin.

"Up arrow - adds one hemisphere at the top
Down arrow - adds one side of the bottom"These two options don't work in my sketchup 8...

That was really quick! Thanks a lot. But sadly... the problem unsolved.
Am I doing anything wrong? After drawing the circle press the up arrow key.
By the way,the left and right arrow keys are working.

In previous versions it was impossible to move the mouse, then press worked.
I fixed it in version krug-11.zip

Did you test it in Sketchup 8? I'm sorry I still can't get it working.

The archive video
[attachment=0:12b25ek5]<!-- ia0 -->video_krug_4.rar<!-- ia0 -->[/attachment:12b25ek5]Yes I can see it works well in your video. And the anwsers of other Members can also confirm that it works.
I know it's a little annoying now but the krug_11 also does't work by creating the hemispheres with up- and down arrow key. I've tested it in my notebook and in PC of the office, neither can work.I also tested your krug_4, I can only draw the first circle, but none of the arrow key can work. (with krug_11 I can create the second and third circles with left and right keys but not the hemispheres.
I'm using sketchup 8.0.3117 and win XP with a german keyboard. But I don't think it has anything to do with the keyboard, right? What do you mean with your words 'In previous versions it was impossible to move the mouse'? Should I move the mouse to a certain position before I press the up arrow key?
-
For me, it appears that I must press the arrow keys within say 5 seconds to get the results. I can't go back to a circle and use the arrow keys. Is this correct?

No. While you are using a script and did not select another tool or until set again the starting point of the circle - you can use the arrow to the left, right, up, and the bottom

I think the problem is the keyboard.

Yes, you are right.I find out that every plugin that need to use up and down arrow key doesn't work in my notebook. (Such as Artisan uses up and down key to change the displacement vector. and "edge follow me" tool of sdmich uses up+down to change the direction of the curve).
BUT finally I figured out that up and down work in all these plugins if I press ctrl+up or ctrl+down, I don't know why.
Thank you again for your plugin and your help.
