[Plugin] Position_shadows_v1.2 112610

Read installation below. Freely use, and abuse at your own risk. Fitness of use is not warranty implied.
Unzip files. Place "hdt_folder" and "Position_shadows.rb" in the Sketchup "plugins folder".From the Sketchup menu, select View > Toolbar, and check "Position Shadows" to turn on the plugin's toolbar icons. Please note the menu bar location is moved from "File" to "Tools".
The sun shadows resulting from this application, may be placed anywhere on the model for presentation purposes. The menu's arrow icons move the shadows in gross increments. Although sketchup's date, time shadow control data have no meaning with this application, use these controls to fine tune the shadow's positions.
If necessary, go to Window > Model Info, select Geo-location, and select your model's location to return the shadow's behavior to the model's selected location. If you require accurately placed shadows, geo-locate the model, and use the native Sketchup shadow controls.
11/28/2010 - v 0.1 Beta release
11/30/2010 - v 1.0 More elegant math, and removes views with sun below horizon.
12/19/2010 - v 1.2 Move menus to tools, and other small improvements.
-
Good idea,
Thank you for your contribution. -
Release V1.0 Couldn't resist removing the views with the sun below the horizon, and in the process improved the math.
-
Current release including relocated menus, and minor updates. No significant functional improvements.
-
Thanks Honolulu,
very useful for those pesky moments in which the sliders slide too fast..
-
In my part of the world, there are some model elevations that are always shaded, therefor no shadows. I used to rotate the model, in order to present shadows. This application generates shadows on any elevation without rotating the model.

Quite cool.
Is it possible to use it with the SKP2015 ? -
This is a veeeery old plugin.
BUT you can be a guinea-pig...
Install it and try it in v2015...
If it succeeds tell us.
If it fails please post the error messages...
If they are easy to fix, then I'll look at them myself...
Sadly the author died some years ago, but I'm sure he'd be happy to make his works available in newer versions too... -
Well Tig, took the plunge.
I just installed this on SketchUp 2016.Works as perfect as ever!
Just renamed the .zip file to .rbz.
I used to use this one a lot for renders.
HonoluluDesktop would be very happy this lives onβ«βͺβ«βͺ... .. .
