Plans now scaled.

Roughing in the bulkheads. I have just one bulkhead to go by, so I'll have to fake the rest.
-
Going to be a lot of adjusting before I skin. The hull profile slopes from the top middle down to the ends.
I had to pick this one, didn't I? Oh well, it will look more interesting this way.
-
Following with great interest

Most of the bulkheads placed and now to just refine their profiles and set up the final aft bulkhead, then find the true hull curve.

Great progress Boats can be a real pain to modelβ¦..

Thanks!
Gonna hold off for a while. Local weather has had 30 degree (F, 15 degrees C) swings over the last few days and my head hurts.

How I'm preparing the hull for skinning.
-
Sigh.
Crazy busy with the day job the last two weeks and no end in sight. That's why I've just been doing easy renders.
I'm getting impatient to get back to this.
-
How I'm doing this:
I made three copies. The first one on the right is my baseline. As I make corrections, it becomes the new baseline and replaces the previous model.
The middle one is where I make corrections, based on:
The one on the far left where I test and find the problems.
Current issues are getting the bulkhead heights to line up exactly with the hull profile.
I intend to use Soap Bubble or Curviloft to skin the hull. At worst, hand connect all the lines to make the hull surface, like I did with the Nadesico.
-
Yep. Non-connected lines and endpoint alignments were the problem.
I ended up using Curviloft for each compartment.
After making sure the bulkheads were the exact height of the corresponding point on the hull profile, I erased the hull profile lines between each compartment one at a time and made a new line to ensure the endpoints were connected, then used Curviloft to skin. One section at a time.
The bow was tricky and required a lot of small arcs for Curviloft work. The tail still needs some fiddling, but it's nothing major at this point. I'll fix it pretty quickly.
The hull curve is not perfect, but if you didn't know, you can't tell. I'm good with this.... this time.

Oops. Forget the main shot.
-
Looking good so far
-
Thanks tuna!

Aft fixed. It looks a little off because of the visible lines, but it is correct. (later edit: it was not ) I have not ungrouped the Curviloft sections yet, but when they are ungrouped and merged, it will look better. I will wait until I am absolutely sure it is correct. I'm only 98% sure at the moment.
On to the main cabin in the meantime.

Coming along nicely.

Resetting my workflow.
