Image from Google Earth cannot be exploded
-
I added a location to a model in SU8 and rendered it in Podium. the image from GE did not render (it appears black). so I thought I had to explode the image (it came as a group) for it to render. however, I have not been able to do so: right clicking on it shows me a menu where explode is grayed out. any ideas?

Is it locked? Then you could unlock it either in the context menu or in the main menu under "edit".
-
Or under Entity Info ?
-
Like they said, it comes in Locked.

I found this out Friday as well. Had brought in two or three instances of the map/terrain and started to freak out, until I right clicked and saw "unlock" - D'oH! LOL
-
thanks. I managed to unlock and explode the image with your help. I am still struggling with how to render it.

If it's an exploded image it becomes a face with a material applied to it, and so it should render OK...
I know my Octane Exporter supports exporting images [after a lot of 'faff'] - it exports the 'image' as if it were a material-texture and uses it in applied to a matching face in the OBJ/MTL files used... so it is possible to do... -
Edson,
I don't understand the issue. If you have exploded it, it just renders like any other texture in SU.That said, if the face with the texture is a curving terrain, then it will likely render segmented, because each face (every teensy triangle) will now have its own unique little picture on it... and these will not be seen by the rendering program as having a single image, and therefore it will not know how to smooth it as if it were one smooth image... this depends on how the image is applied, the render program exporter, etc.

fletch,
it renders fine in SU as it has always done. the problem I am having has to do with Podium. now I found out it has to do with the fact that the imported image has no extension.

reverse the face and apply texture. your rendering will be fine..
