Vray animation problem - settings
-
Hi,
I have problem with rendering in Vray. In attach (open pictures in new tabs for better view), you can see that letters and other signs on keyboard goes on and off. Also reflection on lid are not complete (missing few letters). These two pictures are part of 120 pictures I've made for animation purpose, and when I play video, letters blinking.
Question is what setting sholud I use?
Used settings: (section in rollout menu - values)
Image sampler: min 1, max 8, color treshold 0,004
Camera: Shutter speed 350, ISO 500
Indirect Illumination: Irradinace Map and Light Cache
Irradiance map: Min rate -3; Max rate -1; Color Normal and Distance treshold 0,05; Hsph Subdiv 40; Samples 40
Light Cache: Subdivisions 1000; Sample size 0,01; Passes 4; Adaptive sampling ON
DMC Sampler: Adaptive amount 0,85; Min samples 8; Noise treshold 0,005
Color Maping: Exponential with all values set to 1.
Other settings are more or less default. Thanks in advance

Is that the actual size you render to?
Have you tried increasing the IR map's min/max values?
-
Thanks for replying.
Yes, that's actual size 1000x750. I've tried with -3 and 0, but no effect. Which values should I use (approximatly)? Is that problem with IR maps or something else is on?

The - keys - are they textured materials?
What I usually find helpful is to refer to the Examples in the V-Ray manual:
http://www.spot3d.com/vray/help/150SP1/
Possibly the Image Sampler will help you in this case: http://www.spot3d.com/vray/help/150SP1/examples_image_sampler.htm -
No. Simple text tool is used. Exploded and moved 0,01cm from the face of keys.

Problem solved .
In Image Sampler changed Min Subdivs from 1 to 3. That means 9 samples for each pixel. I will try with 2, because rendering time is doubled .Thanks again thomthom

Hi everyone,
For all those starting out with Vray and those who want a better grip of it and having trouble with the settings (as I frustratingly did for two days), here is a link to the ASGVIS.COM website that offers free downloads (once you sign up) of Render Options which you can just load and all the settings are there for you, ready to go.
For example: there's a preset for Default Sketchup, IrMap DMC Medium, Print Quality Studio etc. Once you see what settings can achieve a certain level of rendering, it's far easier to learn the nuances that it takes to execute a particular effect.
ASGVIS.COM also have really cool materials and other freebies as well.
Thank God for this site, it's made my life so much easier.
I hope it saves some of you guys needless hours fiddling around and swearing at Vray or SU.
Enjoy!

The day I stop swearing at software is the day I surrender my mind.

Thomthom...ha ha ha, funny comment! This is completely off topic but...What's up with the double name? Cuz I used to (and still do) listen to a band called Shotgun Messiah and their bassist/singer called himself Timtim during the first album and then changed it to Tim Skold after he replaced the lead singer and became the front man himself. I was curious since you are from Freddie Ljungberg's home country. Sharing is caring...

It short for my full name - Thomas Thomassen. (Oh yes it's true - and that name repeats itself down my history tree - names, as it turns out, are inheritable. Though they usually skips a couple of generations.)
Got the nick when I went to England - we where three Thomas' in the house. One was called Thom, the other by his last name, and I became ThomThom. No one used 'Thomas' in England - they like to shorten words there. Even ThomThom got shortened, but since Thom was already used, it became TT - then even that was shortened to just T. "What some more tea, TT? hihihi..." ugh....
So there!
What's your story?
