did you know that ?Yes, but I think that by commanding this plugin to draw a line from center of a 'radius' and taking a .61803399 of the distance from the radius line drawn then you can ultimately get an offset sacred semented circle. Or perhaps linking an area function to the plug-in doing the perimeter command.
Pie is irrational. No one can tell if a circle is actually round that i know, but in the same class of importance as Euler's constant or even i (the bang) of infinity. Zero and 1 are just as important, as well. Maybe if Sketchup can Rotate by the limit of the sum segmented then we could get a never-ending number.. But Sketchup rounds which probably gives rise to little holes in our curvy objects. A proper circle might indeed exist but we might never know in this world. For now Sacred to me is what Archimedes segmented giving rise to what he called pie circles.

Having done a bit of background reading, i think i understand the idea: basically have inference at the golden ratio (or phi to use the OPs terminology.) I dont agree that it should be included as standard in SU though as i think it is too obscure to be of interest to the majority of users.
Some of what you described might be workable in a plugin though, just a matter of writing it really.

You do get Golden Ratio inference with the rectangle tool.

I agree with remus here - this sounds rather specialised. Infering an offset based on the radius. Plugin candidate I'd say.

NICE!!! I know scaled and grouped object gauge plays a huge part to be simple. I think it could be tweeked to show dashed lines upon indicating the points at which the command then executes.. This might be a great solution in the mean time.
