[Plugin] ExtrudeTools - Full Set
-
Thnak you again dear Tig

-
I downloaded this a while ago and forgot to say thanks, so thanks! These are those most sacred of tools that bring entirely new functionality to SU.

Here's today's update http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?p=217663#p217663
Contains two new tools:
EEbyFace (followme-like tool using a preselected 'flat' face with multiple paths if desired)
EEbyRailsByFace (uses EEbyFace across a mesh picked by Profile/Rail1/Rail2/Melding-Profile just like EEbyRails to form a 'rib-cage')
Links to their threads are in the main page...

Hi Tig, more toys,,, excellent
EEbyRailsbyFace isn't working on my Mac, and when I looked at the code, line 632 comments out all lines through to 693 which look important to me.
might this be my issue?
cheers

That code is legacy stiff from EEbyRails that I found I didn't ever need [yet] but I left it in but 'commented' out just in case - so that's not the problem...
When you try it on your Mac what errors do you get in the in the Ruby Console ?

Error: #<NoMethodError: undefined method

Here's an updated zip file http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?p=217663#p217663
It's issued because the EEbyFace tool had a simple typo in it that meant that whilst it didn't affect my testing of it, it did mess up some of you - it's been fixed in the latest zip file... Sorry for any inconvenience

-
no problem,
I EExRxF is working although it does crash out if you do it wrong, and it is that one that wasn't even starting.
I was looking at the code for both (to see what I was doing wrong) when I saw the comment-out bit, then I got mixed up which was in error...

Working a treat..... cheers again

Thanks - that points to a typo in the file that doesn't cause me a problem while checking it... but does you !
I'll fix it and reissue a new zip...

Here's an updated version http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?p=217663#p217663
Main changes are in EEbyFace and the related EEbyFaceByRails - their extruded form is now consistently oriented.
Also minor speed improvements and the lingvo files updates.
Minor tweaks to some other tools db setups etc - these will probably go unnoticed by most of you...Feedback please

-
Feedback....I noticed the uniform spline of Fredo's makes the sexest railed surfaces. I do think the bezier command shrinks these curves..But Thank you!! I will be donating on your behalf soon. Like the day I can actually put money in my pocket, sweariingly.. I use your tools the most!! lately. Much THANKS and donation soon!!!!
Cheers! -

Hi TIG would you be able to place your tools in a sub-menu like iv shown above ?
... would help keep our plugins list smaller ...
ThanksGood idea - watch for next update....

Here's the latest version http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?p=217663#p217663
It now loads all of the available Extrusion Tools into one 'Extrusion Tools...' sub-menu in the Plugins menu...

Thank you TIG

Here's the latest version http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?p=217663#p217663
EEbyRails and EEbyRailsByFace have been updated to avoid a rare glitch in the mesh/ribs caused by some helical rails turning so exactly at 180 degrees in some parts... -
Here's a new version http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?p=217663#p217663
It has some minor tweaks to FR lingvo files [thanks Pilou] etc and a brand new ToolExtrudeEdgesByFaces.
You pick a face as a profile and then one rail [curve] - then a melding-profile-face [this could also be first face picked]. The location of the face(s) relative to the rail ends affects the final extruded form.
It then forms a triangulated mesh based on these faces, melding from one face shape to the other, completing it with capped ends - there are then options to reverse/smooth etc - [its functionality is very similar to EEbyRails with a pinch of EEbyFace]...

TIG,
Thank you so much for producing this FANTASTIC set of tools.
Quite stunning.
......................
I do, however, have something for you to ponder....
Will it be possible in the future to utilise Intermediate Profiles ???
(See attached *.skp file)This would be EXTREMELY useful for producing models with a constantly changing cross section
eg boat hulls, aircraft fuselages, certain storage tanks and vessels etc. This can be done at present with your "extrude edges by rails" (performed several times) - but the ability to utilise intermediate profiles would be brilliant.
.........................
Thanks once again for all your hard work in producing this set of tools - and for combining them together in one toolbar.Regards
Howard Leslie
