[Plugin][$] RoundCorner - v3.4a - 31 Mar 24
-
Hi there. I've had no problem installing you other great plugins. However I can't get the round corners to work. The icon shows up in the menus but when I try to click on a surface, nothing happens. I've followed your instructions in installing but I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.
-
You have the current LibFredo installed?
You unzipped the correct files/folders into the plugins directory?
-
yes I have. All the other plug ins work fine with no problems.
Here are the errors that are showing up in the ruby scriptError; #<Errno;;EACCES; Permission denied - E;/Program Files (x86)/Google/Google SketchUp 8/Plugins/FredoTraceRoundCorner.txt> E;/Program Files (x86)/Google/Google SketchUp 8/Plugins/ROUNDCORNER_Dir_22/RoundCorner_Algo.rb;2197;in `initialize' E;/Program Files (x86)/Google/Google SketchUp 8/Plugins/ROUNDCORNER_Dir_22/RoundCorner_Algo.rb;2197;in `open' E;/Program Files (x86)/Google/Google SketchUp 8/Plugins/ROUNDCORNER_Dir_22/RoundCorner_Algo.rb;2197;in `create_file' E;/Program Files (x86)/Google/Google SketchUp 8/Plugins/ROUNDCORNER_Dir_22/RoundCorner_Algo.rb;2210;in `trace' E;/Program Files (x86)/Google/Google SketchUp 8/Plugins/ROUNDCORNER_Dir_22/RoundCorner_Tool.rb;58;in `initialize' E;/Program Files (x86)/Google/Google SketchUp 8/Plugins/ROUNDCORNER_Dir_22/RoundCorner_Tool.rb;42;in `new' E;/Program Files (x86)/Google/Google SketchUp 8/Plugins/ROUNDCORNER_Dir_22/RoundCorner_Tool.rb;42;in `launch' E;/Program Files (x86)/Google/Google SketchUp 8/Plugins/ROUNDCORNER_Dir_22/RoundCorner_Tool.rb;33;in `action__mapping' E;/Program Files (x86)/Google/Google SketchUp 8/Plugins/LIBFREDO6_Dir_37/Lib6Plugin.rb;118;in `call' E;/Program Files (x86)/Google/Google SketchUp 8/Plugins/LIBFREDO6_Dir_37/Lib6Plugin.rb;118;in `launch_action' E;/Program Files (x86)/Google/Google SketchUp 8/Plugins/ROUNDCORNER_Dir_22/bootstrap_RoundCorner.rb;143;in `launch_action' E;/Program Files (x86)/Google/Google SketchUp 8/Plugins/ROUNDCORNER_Dir_22/bootstrap_RoundCorner.rb;159;in `startup' E;/Program Files (x86)/Google/Google SketchUp 8/Plugins/LIBFREDO6_Dir_37/Lib6Plugin.rb;679;in `call' E;/Program Files (x86)/Google/Google SketchUp 8/Plugins/LIBFREDO6_Dir_37/Lib6Plugin.rb;679;in `command_invoke' E;/Program Files (x86)/Google/Google SketchUp 8/Plugins/LIBFREDO6_Dir_37/Lib6Plugin.rb;661;in `build_config_commands' E;/Program Files (x86)/Google/Google SketchUp 8/Plugins/LIBFREDO6_Dir_37/Lib6Traductor.rb;908;in `call' E;/Program Files (x86)/Google/Google SketchUp 8/Plugins/LIBFREDO6_Dir_37/Lib6Traductor.rb;908;in `add_command' E;/Program Files (x86)/Google/Google SketchUp 8/Plugins/ROUNDCORNER_Dir_22/RoundCorner_Algo.rb;2197;in `call' E;/Program Files (x86)/Google/Google SketchUp 8/Plugins/ROUNDCORNER_Dir_22/RoundCorner_Algo.rb;2197

Neocene,
Could you install the version 2.2c.
Normally it does not log traces to file.
Apparently, you have some access restriction for creating files by program in your Program directory.Fredo
-
I have downloaded that version before and get the same problem. How can I change the access for the program?

In file RoundCorner_Algo.rb, can you check that on line 2190, you have
@@mode_on = false
Fredo
-
Please explain to me why did I just waste 2minutes registering just to find out that I don't have the necessary permissions to download even as a registered user.
-
You should be able to download it with no issues. Please, make sure you have cookies properly enabled and if you are using an url like http://www.sketchucation.com/forums/scf, please, change to http://forums.sketchucation.com
When we are at it; are you sure you have SketchUp version 1? As such, you could not use plugins anyway (they were introduced at version 4). If you have anything later, please, correct your profile here.
-
I am using version 8, I was in a hurry to get the plugin since I was on a deadline and needed a quick way to achieve rounded corners. In regards to the cookies and url, those are not the cause of my problem both are enabled and displaying normally. Any other ideas, can a moderator please pm me the link, I'd still like to use the plugin for future projects.

See your email. But then come back and let's fix this issue as it should be working fine.
-
Sorry, LibFredo contains an exe file and the email is not sent. See your PM then.

Hi Fredo,
I'm also having trouble with the round corner tool making the program run really slow. Seems to be related to the palette...once this is minimized it works fine, but its is such a pain trying to enter dimensions when the program becomes so clunky with the palette open.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, can't do without this tool.

Can you confirm your run SU on Windows? (i.e. not on Mac)
Also, when you shrink the palette, do you have fluid performance, or just an improvement?
Fredo
PS: when the palette is shrinked, you access the parameter settings by typing TAB

Hi,
-
I'm running SU on Mac, OS X version 10.6.7 (I have windows at work, works fine on that. I thought this issue was related only to mac, apologies for not mentioning in previous post)
-
Once I shrink the palette it runs smooth enough, tho often I have to clean up edges after the tool has completed the round.
i'm running on an imac intel i5 dual core with 8gb of ram.
cheers

I am still scratching my head where it can come from, why it is only on Mac and why only for Roundcorner (the palette package is the same for other plugins like Curviloft and TOS).
Several Mac users have reported the problem, so there must be a rational explanation.
Still investigating

By the way, can you confirm the follwoing point:
When you start Roundcorner on an empty selection
-
Do you have to wait to see the button palette appear for the first time ?
-
or slow behavior is only when you move the mouse(which refreshes the palette) without clicking ?
-
Or is it only when you select edges that you have the slow behavior?
Also, can you open the Ruby console when you run RoundCorner, in case there are messages displayed.
Thanks
Fredo

fwiw, here's roundcorner on my laptop (15" i7) but it works the same on my desktop (2.66quad macpro)..
[flash=853,510:3hfz6m0m]http://www.youtube.com/v/CFV33Eu8Y6I?fs=1&hl=en_US&rel=0[/flash:3hfz6m0m]
as you can see, everything works fine.. i used this example because it had so many edges to round but even then, it only took 6 seconds.. a simple box is basically instantaneous..
also, orbiting etc. works fine as well when the palette is up..
i wish i could make roundcorner work not so well in order to help find a solution but i've tried literally 100 different things to mess it up and i can't do it..

Jeff,
Apparently the issue of performance appears for some Mac users, not all.
And also, it seems to be related to the selection mode , not to the generation of geometry. I understand that it is related to the display and refresh of the button palette.Fredo
PS: on my slow laptop on XP, your model takes less than 2 second to round, with 6 segments for rounding.
EDIT: if the Arc curve is exploded, then it takes around 7 seconds, like in your video
