      Hi!

      how to apply apply one material for a model with componants and groups that have different ones ?

      Do i have to explode each entity and then apply the material?

        You could open the material browser and delete all materials, then select all and apply your single material that way, if deleteing them all is an option.

        There is probably also a ruby script that could help?

          Select the brush tool->ctrl-a->click one of the selected bits.

          edit: my method doesnt work for materials applied inside a group/components, as you say chris.

            but if you've directly painted faces within any components, that won't over-ride those materials.

                  You can use this to remove all materials from a model. http://www.sketchucation.com/forums/scf/viewtopic.php?f=180&t=17587
                  Once all materials are used you can change the default material colours in the Style window.

                      My GlobalMaterialChanger.rb [ http://www.sketchucation.com/forums/scf/viewtopic.php?p=96863#p96863 ]also has the option to specify <<ALL>> materials and then set any material to replace that [including <<DEFAULT>>]. You are asked if it's to 'mine' down into groups and instances too....
