Record the meaning of each menu selection and let me play it back when I need it, like a macro.
Things like Texture/Position/rotate/270 gets really, really tedious when you have to do it over and over and over again.Even better -- come up with some keyboard codes to match your menu functions and let me setup that macro in one of my keyboard function keys ... pop! a one press solution to a tedious issue.
However, once you have rotated a texture by 270 degrees you can sample it with the eyedropper tool off the Materials Browser, then paint the rotated material on the required surfaces - that way you only do a rotation once for each face orientation - of course you might want to move the texture over the face later ?
The typical key combo on Microsoft app's on PC is Ctrl+Y for redo last operation... it wouldbe good on SUp... -
Just a thought, but the SUp UI's getting kinda dated, and, if they're overhauling it for SU8, a full-screen mode would be fantastic... you know, like in browsers, with slide-in toolbars at the edges. I almost always use keyboard shortcuts and right-clicks, so I'm pretty much focused only on the 3D viewing port, and I think GPUs render faster full-screen than in a window

Hi All
First I wanted to thank Google team for supporting and developing SketchUp! (and Layout!!!))
By far I Have only two wishes
-
please do make hatch patterns in layout !
(My utmost wish would be to introduce custom scalable section patterns for DC - so that I could create a layered wall or roof and simply present it to a client via Layout without the need to manually paint over - that would be a huge help and step forward - but layout by itself needs it as well - so whichever easier for you pls do! -
pls custom, scaled linetypes in layout would be of great help!! current types show very strange scale...
Some other considerations
I think that 3d warehouse implementation is too insistent - and making interface inconsistent
so if there's a way to revert back to version 6 components browser i vote for itanother consideration - unlike some others I do not support the idea of SU go 64 bit or multi core - gradual enhancements may take place but software side not hardware.. So far, even on high rise builds everything more or less manageable.. And I believe there's no need to upgrade interface - unless new features come in..
Regards and good luck!

64 bit. It is about time it happens.
No excuses are valid anymore. -
Normal texturing for arcs spheres and other curved surfaces. Better texturing is what I need so much.
-
Yeah, I also use a lot of arches therefore a lot of manual tweaking which I would gladly spare (especially when an arched opening is on a curved surface like an apse).
-
Very simple. An option to "Abort Current Process / Operation" Even if SU could handle high poly stuff, I would still want this.
-
iPhone support! I understand how hard it would be to develop this in a touchscreen base, but we should at least have the viewer.
-
Guides/constructions for circles and arcs.
Arc completion/complement/extend.
Incorporation of SketchyPhysics or similar
Allow polygon to be created from the midpoint of a side in addition to the vertex (i.e. inscribed and circumscribed polygons)
Make all/any sub-window stackable and dockable. Make them pull out in a tray so they don't overlay the tool icons across the top or side.
Valuable real-estate is lost to the right of the "help" menu choice, make use of it. -
I vote -- screen lock. I am tired of rearranging my toolbars after i accidently bump the screen off of maximize. I am not even sure how that happens, it just does.
-
The plugin for Center of Gravity is great, but it's slow and doesn't work well for repeated usage of components.
The center of mass should be built in, automatic and faster. Right click and choose "point at Centroid" to mark it
Materials need a density attribute so that you can find out how much an object weighs when painted with it.Acceleration due to gravity should be adjustable.

A feature I would like to see would be an HTML box. Obviously, it would need some limits to not become a security risk.
I'm using Sketchup to document multiple theatrical type venues in our building. I would like to be able to use dynamic attributes to record information about lighting fixtures such as: (DMX Address, channel, lens degree, purpose, profile, etc...) I would like to have a standardized information table that can be displayed in certain views for each of the lighting fixtures. The reason for HTML is formatting of the information; some rows might be in larger fonts, some columns might be in bold, etc....
Over time fixtures will be moved around, repositioned, etc... and I would like the information to move with the components.
A static HTML box would be a nice first step. An even better next step would be limited javascript that would have the ability to extract information from the model. For instance the HTML box could be associated with either the model in general or a specific component. Then it could retrieve information from dynamic attributes and so forth based on what is associated with.
Further have these HTML boxes carry over into Layout.

Hi Thomas,
I've seen a lot of good work and feedback from you on this site.
I was thinking of some HTML boxes really being shown in the sketchup interface just like a texture/photo on a face. It could be free floating though. I'm thinking of maybe 10-150 of them floating around the screen at one time depending on the zoom level of the model. Further they would be on layers that can be shown/hidden etc.... Basically think of it just like the existing text box, but with a whole lot more rich text formatting options, but not exactly 3D (like the 3D text tool).
Do you know of a good example to get started from? I've got some programming background, but I'm brand new to Ruby. I know I could make a dynamic component and then when the user clicks on it could trigger a script which shows the webdialog. However, this would not work simultaneously on multiple components. Please correct me if I'm wrong, again if you know of an example I could start from....

A deadline for the next update !! other programs make they updates once a year but we get some love once a decade !!and never know of the current work on new builds or something google guys TELL something to your clients !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!i think we deserv it or no????
-
I just want SU to be more of a CAD application. That would do me fine. (And of course to include every single brilliant plugin made to date including sketchy physics etc etc ).
Together we can smash the 3DS Max machine!
-
The day SU has a feature set to rival 3ds max i'll be long gone
-
One can only hope!
