I'm still getting to grips with it. Having the faces the right way still gets me everytime.

tobobo,
it seems that when the next version of KT and Su2KT release u wouldnt have to worry too much bout the reversed faces!!! -

Well, that would be really nice!
I'm always quite consistent with face orientation but when for example it comes to windows, you need not create "double faces" however thin they are for instance. Or sails for ships... -
orient faces is great, for simple objects, but as soon as you're working with a little more complex mesh, I find, it starts screwing up pretty badly! more randomizing your faces than anything...

I downloaded KT, but I find my free SU excludes exporting the proper file types. I'm an old hobbiest restricted to freeware so I can't justify investing in the "Plus" versions of anything. (Of course, there's always the lottery!) So- if there is something out there like a workaround, I'd appreciate hearing about it.
I had an older homebrew computer that could run Blender and Yafray, but this "nicer PC" can't handle it.
It's all fun, either way- keeps me out of the pubs.Okay- back to the barley pop..

Reg,
The su2kt exporter should work with the free version of SU as well as the pro. There must be something else...

Yes, it does I'm using both and having one hell of a lot of fun while I'm at it SU and KT are both mavelous programs for us peasants who cannot afford the pro versions. At the rate I'm learning both programs, with the help of you wonderful Guys and Gals, I may be able to hang out my shingle one day and get employment with a builder or architect and then I'll be able to afford the 'real thing' and update the computers as well.
Luv you all,

Reversing the face isn't the problem, its remembering to do it before exporting to KT.
I can have some real Malteser Moments sometimes -
Tobobo, you in Birmingham, Al. USA or Birmingham, UK?
just curious...
-
I'm in the uk. Maybe i should change my profile to say UK?
-
For a weird and unknown reason, (not sure if this is true still, but it was for V5) the Free SU actually works better with TomasZ's SU2KT exporter, it goes a little faster!
-
Where can i find this exporter, coz i've only got the generic exporter

Hello guys
Since the terrible decision made by Google to move the groups and to abandon the old forum
I did not spend much time with Sketchup. I am very glad to see that this forum is taking it place
and the community still survives and keep the spirit.Soon a major release of Kerkythea will be available with incredible new features. We spend many month testing and debating the new features which certainly will make Kerkythea the most powerful freeware render engine available. Tomasz also revised the SU2KT exported which will bring incredible integration to SU and many more features. Finaly a Mac version of KT will also be available with the forthcoming release.
I know that Frederick and Tomasz can take care of most of your KT question here but just in case
you can also visit the official KT site. Thanks

I am not sure who knows who in the world of CG, however I am sure that the 'code guy' at Kerky knows the 'code guy' at Podium, so they should talk as Podium has just overcome the face thing, without reversing faces the render engine will render the front face regardless which way it faces.
I am sure it's a geeky code thing...but it makes life so much easier.
KT is a cool looking app...I will wait for new upgrade and give it a whirl.
