@Mike-Amos Assuming the minimal parts sounds confusing? Basically only four components in each basket. The top ring, the twisted vertical bar and a two piece base.

@ntxdave Thank you sir. I’d suggest starting with simple shapes and practice the various techniques. In particular copy/array around a circle. As you get comfortable slowly add to the complexity. 👍

@tuna1957 I have been trying that but so far am not doing very well (making me feel pretty dumb). 🤪

On thing I do have a little problem with in the videos is that he obviously enters info in the text boxes that you cannot see in the video. I will continue watching and figure things out. Maybe this is what happens as we age and are away for a while. 😀

@ntxdave Don’t feel dumb. At least you’re trying. That’s more than a lot of people. A shame you don’t live down the street. You could drop over and see in real time how I struggle with this stuff. 😬

Another odd object. Experimented with a bunch of different effects for the material on the globe when rendering.😎

I thought I saw a video somewhere using the quad face tool plugin to draw something like a fancy btacelet but I cannot fing it anymore. Does anyone know where I can find it?

Another odd little thing. Pulled some parts from an early practice model and ended up with this…😎

Dug up an old file. I’d been practicing twisting stuff. Copied out one of the rings and here’s the result. Playing around with this stuff is fun. 😎 Including a pic of the proxy.

I would like to learn more about how to do stuff like this. Here is my most recent trial/practice.

                          Link Preview Image

I did not use anything like FredoScale. Can you share with me how to use a tool like that to twist something? Also, did you do this with SU 2025? If so, how do you get a glass/glossy look to the interior part of you model?

@ntxdave I use SU Pro15 and 18. The finished image was rendered in Twilight. The glass has a “Flint Glass” template applied in Twilight. To my understanding even with the added PBR materials in SU25 if you want true realism your going to have to use a render software.

@tuna1957 OK, I just messed around with the FredoScale tool and some additional messing around with things in 2025 and here is my latest trial.

So, I think to your suggestion of the FredoScale tool and messing around I have made some more progress. 😀

More fun time stuff. Only three components. Drew the path for the upper twists directly on the globe. Fredo’s Tools on Surface makes short work of it. The most time was spent on the render side. Played in Twilight’s Deep Material Editor to get the effect on the globe. 😎

I need to understand how you drew the path.

@ntxdave “Tools on Surface” allows you to draw on curved surfaces. Turned on hidden geometry which helps to keep things aligned. You just have to play and experiment to get used to how it works. The upper twists are 24 copies of one component.
