Sketchup version 8 crashes on startup

My honest suggestion would be to update SU.
2017 Make is still available. (I think) You may have to search around for it.

I agree with Bryan, a no brainer

@unearthed I would rule out extensions first. Rename your Plugins folder to !!Plugins to prevent it loading.
If SketchUp starts then you know its related to extensions.
-
It would help if you first confirmed that you are actually using 2012 and not 2022 or some other variant. I barely remember 2012, was that the one with the bloke with glasses as a scale figure.

I agree with Box. The version numbers went from 8 to 2013. No version officially called 2012.

it doesn't get any further than this error message
Typically crashes on startup are due to graphics driver issues. What graphics card? Maybe try updating graphics drivers.

We really need to sort out user SketchUp versions in their profiles
-
@Rich-O-Brien Feel free to try but in my experience they will still be incorrect no matter what you do.
-
@unearthed Seriously, you think you can quietly edit from 2012 to SU8 and the say you tried the sub version 2020 but it didn't work!
Did you actually have a log on? That would have worked.Sorry, too many things, too hard to keep quiet.
Happy to fix or help but not when its all hidden away. -
I bought a swiss army knife but I never got the army.
-
@Box I don't understand, I didn't 'quietly edit' anything, I just used the editor to edit my version one I knew what it was. I reinstalled and all working now.
