I absolutely love this rendering, and I would assume it's (hopefully) all done in a .style, but how would one replicate this effect/feel? I'd like to elevate my renderings to something like this look, since it has a nice blend of realism & whimsy.

That's not something that could be done in a style. You could use a sketchy style for the edges but you'll need to do some post processing to get the watercolor effect for the materials.

When I do this sort of thing I will create a couple of image exports. One with only the sketchy edges using the Hidden Line face style, and a second export showing the faces and no edges. Then I use FotoSketcher to create the watercolor effect (you could also do this in Photoshop or Gimp) and the combine the results with the edges image.

        Example:

        Hidden Line.

        No edges export:

FotoSketcher result. (Quickie. I didn't spend much time on it.)

        https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/52310348602_df420c82dc.jpg

Final after combining the two images.

Here's maybe a more clear example at least as far as the results go.

The floor in the image you shared looks like it was done with watercolor markers. That could be done by hand on a printed image from SketchUp or it could be done with a brush in Photoshop or Corel Painter or similar.

You could create hand drawn textures to import into SketchUp but they'd lose some of their sketchy look at the edges which might not be all that nice.

...and if you take Dave's bed and feed it to an AI image tool you get 3 new beds...

...except the new beds only allow you out one side

I knew I shouldn't open that AI thing.

So I asked it to draw a 'Woodworker in a big bed asleep'...

πŸ‘ which was a very good tip Dave, thanks! πŸ‘ (it is good that you can save your own settings done in FotoSketcher as your own preset and load them again)
