Problems making an object snap onto another one
-
Hi,
When I want to snap one object to another, I usually have to try several times because the object is always far away from the one I want to attach it to. It seems to be close, but when I change the perspective, I see that it is still far away from another side. Is there a particular method that can do this better?
Kind regards

I wonder if I have made it clear what I mean.

I read it and it reads as if you not pressed F1 and read the docs on using SketchUp.
Read and watch videos on SketchUp inferencing system.
Here's a good tip to get a selected object to the world origin.
Select Object
Press M and click on object and move your mouse any distance then type [
In the VCB you will see [ ]
Now type 0,0,0 and hit ENTER
Your selection is no at XYZ = 0,0,0

Alohaa, no it’s not so clear what your asking. A screenshot or two showing what exactly your trying to move would help. Also you mentioned changing perspective. Exactly what do you mean by that…. Are you just moving around in model space or maybe changing from perspective view to parallel projection view and back again ???

Out of curiosity, are you modeling with the Camera set to Parallel Projection?

"are you modeling with the Camera set to Parallel Projection?"
Yes. Isn't that the best method?"I read it and it reads as if you not pressed F1 and read the docs on using SketchUp."
You are right! Sorry!"Are you just moving around in model space or maybe changing from perspective view to parallel projection view and back again ???"
I just try to move the object to that one I want to snap to and turn around to approach it; I don't change the projection in the camera menu.Ok, what Rich wrote seems to be the answer to my question.
Thank you

Yes. Isn't that the best method? No. It's not. SketchUp is designed to work best when the camera is set to Perspective. Parallel Projection is for output. You will find it easier to move objects and navigate the 3D model space if you work in Perspective.

God forbid to work in perspective mode
