Does anyone know how I can view the html code of a web page on my iPad?

I have seen an interesting web page in another forum and would like to be able to view the html code so I can gain some insight into how something was done. In particular, I am trying to figure out how the things on this we page were accomplished Watch Presentation . Since my only access currently on my iPad, I would like to gain some insight into what software was used to create the interactive animations and make them available on a web page.

Hope someone can provide the SU community some insight that could lead to a way to accomplish this and provide/lead to a way to provide interactive views and animations for SU files.

Viewing source of a webpage on iPad is convoluted at best.

This guys embedded 3D animations are next level stuff. A look at his Github shows the lengths he goes to....

GitHub - Ciechan/Revolved: 3D modelling app for the iPad

But if embedding animated 3D models in a page is what your after try...

OK Rich, I think this is headed in a very interesting direction. It would be neat if there was a way to combine a SU model with the viewer you linked to. In particular, if you could use it to trigger Animator animations, dynamic components, and the other features shown in their examples.

This all got triggered in a couple threads here on SketchUcation and over on the SketchUp forum about using tools like LayOut, PowerPoint and other software to talk about/present SU models. Fredo pointed out that there is no API for LayOut so there is no way for him to provide interactivity of his animations in LayOut.

I think the links you have provided could be a start/incentive to move things to another level. Maybe I can replace my laptop in the near future. This would be an interesting road to travel. It would also be neat if someone from Trimble would pick up on this and pursue moving their viewer in this direction.

Thanks for sharing the links………it will be interesting to see if some of the sages pick up on this. Maybe you can promote it some way. 👍

Once again, can it be moved? Gotta quit this. 😞

Should we alter the title to attrack more attention?

              “There’s an app for that”
              Try this: https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/view-source-html-javascript-and-css/id917660039
It works but it hasn’t been updated in 7 years so could get culled if Apple enact their ‘remove of not updated’ policy.

              There’s this one https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/source-3/id921385542
I’ve never used it and it’s not free.

Thanks Paul. Rich really solved the problem for me by pointing out the info I was really after.

Yes, I attempted to change the title of the thread in hopes that there would be some more responses but it did not work. I also hope the thread is (or can be) moved to a more general forum category.

I really would like to see some more feedback from the sages that participate here about the possibilities of developing something like the Mechanical Watch presentation (see link in previous post) for a SU model. I would think something like this would be a popular way for sharing model on web pages, during presentations and with customers/potential customers.

                  Am I way off target?

                    Topic was moved yesterday.

As for using SketchUp models to embed into a webpage with animations as shown in that Watch example is not currently possible.

A method to do this would be that modelviewer embedder but you still need a 3d format that has animation data in it like .glb

So either Animator adds a feature to export .skp files to .glb with the animation data or you animate in another app that supports .glb export. I imagine that is a massive undertaking for Fredo to implement.

Your next issue is getting the embed to have a SketchUp type appearance which is other mountain to climb.

The simplest method would be export your SketchUp animations to image files, then make a GIF file and use some online library to embed GIFs with some type of playback controls.

But they guy that did that Watch example is on another level when it comes to presenting 3D models in a webpage.

I bet there are others who can do it too! 😄 I have confidence in them! 😄

I have outdone any coding for about twenty years. Is the software Rich linked to available for use and up to date? Can SU produce .glb files?

I’ve used SketchFab in the past … like so: https://skfb.ly/69nB6 or https://skfb.ly/68wS9

                        The process is damn simple:

                        • Export the model directly from with in SU.
Do a bit of editing in SketchFab such as adjusting some materials, setting environment etc.
                          Setup some view points
                          Publish

Once it’s ready you can embed it in a page, they even provided the embed code.
If you want to part with some subscription money then you can add animations, remove branding etc etc

Yes, I have used (trial) Sketchfab in the past. It does have some neat features but it does not (to my knowledge) suppler animations (such as those created with Animator or dynamic components). You also have to upload your model to their site (as I remember).

Maybe I am just way out of line on this topic. I just would like to see things move up to the next step.
