[Plugin installation problem] -Unable to install TT_Lib2 _V2
-
Hi,
Thanks in advance to forum members for great plugins and instant helps.
While trying to install above two plug-ins (through extension manager);I'm getting msg failed to install. I tried multiple times, deleted TT_LIB files from plugin folder, then from user then from C:drive then deleted all TT_Plug-ins; restarted computer every time then tried to reinstall it; nothing worked. I manually search in each in every file with letter TT_ and deleted them all still unable to install TT-Lib.
Then, I copy and pasted above TT_Lib file in plug-in folder itself and tried to explode it there with 7Zip. 7Zip message appeared as below-
"Headers Error
Warnings:
There are some data after the end of the payload data."That's it.
- Earlier, I'd installed all the 2018 versions successfully (with extension manager).
but I'd been facing very common problem during startbof SU, a message popping up saying certain more file, folder, .rbz, .rb file/ missing, which I found discussed on various occasions here.
(Other than that startup message; plug-ins were working fine).- While reading a thread TT_small installer; I came to know old method of installing plugins by copy- pasting plugins in User/sketchup/plug-in folder itself.
after resetting my windows 10 (to resolve the V-Ray, freezing my whole computer as soon as I push the render button); I thought to give a try to install plugins by this method.
I carefully installed each plugin and start SU every time to catch & understand the problem/ the missing folder/.rbz/.rbz. By this method, I successfully installed almost all the plugins without error message popping up.
But alas! new problem arised.
while installing this or that plugin (even by using extension manager); SU started crashing as soon as I start it. it happened multiple times for 3-5 days; I kept uninstalling & installing SU then all the plugins.
and ultimately & safely got a working SU with working plugins without any start-up error warning (Wrong or right you guys only can tell me);
except that the problem- TT_lib & TT_Truebend is persistent.
1A) Even if I'd installed TT_lib; all the TT plugins were scattered here & there except once-
1B) When every TT Plugins were under one folder.
Thanks.

Which version of SketchUp? Are you installing TT_Lib2 through Extension Manager using a copy you have downloaded to your computer? You should be installing it through the Extension Warehouse user interface so you are getting the most recent version of it. The same with True Bend.
When you installed SketchUp, did you right click on the downloaded installer and choose Run as administrator from the context menu?
Please make sure your profile indicates the correct version of SketchUp.

SU 2017.
-
Yes! I did installed SU by Right Click Context Menu (As Admin).
-
No! I downloaded plugins from Sketchucation (on my cell phone data) and installed offline as I don't have Wi-Fi or data plan png my PC.
Thanks Dave

As for Thom Thom's extensions, download fresh copies from the Extension Warehouse. Delete any files related to them anywhere they exist on your computer and then try installing again. If you install using Install Extension the files should not be scattered about on your computer. They should be installed in User/AppData/Roaming/SketchUp/SketchUp 2017/Plugins.

I already have done that multiple times spending 2 hours deleting scattered files (if any); downloading latest plugin (mentioned) and reinstalling it.
result is the same.
earlier version didn't have that issue.

Did you download TT_Lib2 from the Extension Warehouse instead of Sketchucation? Exactly what steps did you take to install it once you download it?
-
No, I downloaded the latest version of TT_Lib form Sketchucation (not from Extension Warehouse). I always download plugins from Sketchucation instead of warehouse.
but tried to install the .RBZ file

By cleaning/deleting all its files from C:App data/user...
-
I installed it by in built extension manager of SU. immediately it message appeared "failed to install"
-
I tried multiple times by deleting all the files.
-
I tried by putting it in plug-in folder itself.
-
I unzip it in plugin folder.
but none worked.

Sounds very much like a file/folder permissions problem...
I know you earlier posts suggested that you installed SketchUp 'properly', but can we try doing all of the following steps, for the avoidance of doubt...Login to Windows using your normal Windows user-account.
I doesn't matter if that user has some admin-powers, or not.
Do not login as a separate 'administrator' account.Ensure that SketchUp [and Layout] are closed.
Find the SketchUp installer's exe file - probably in your Downloads folder ?
Select its icon, right-click > context-menu > "Run as administrator"
When prompted choose "Repair".Never run an installer's exe file by double-clicking it to 'Run' it - even if your user has some admin-powers it is NOT the same as doing it properly... doing it wrong causes unpredictable, and often weird, file and folder permission issues...
Also check that the SketchUp.exe file in the Program Files subfolder does NOT have its Properties > Compatibility reset to "always run as administrator" - this can cause other issues
When it completes open SketchUp and try installing the required RBZs using the Extension-Manager > Install Extension red button...
Restart SketchUp after the installation to ensure any Libs etc get properly synced...Any better
If it's still not working, then you could try these two things in turn...
A.
Open the Window > Ruby Console
Use the menu items Extensions > SketchUcation > SketchUcation Archive Installer
Navigate to and choose the RBZ file already downloaded onto your PC, it should then install...
Any error messages in the Console ?
Restart SketchUp to see what happens...B.
Open the Window > Ruby Console
Use the menu items Extensions > SketchUcation > Extension Store OR the first red-button on the SketchUcation Toolbar [ExtensionStore³]
Ensure that the dialog width is sufficient to see all of the buttons on the right-side
Find the required extension, then choose the red-button to 'auto install' it.
Any error messages in the Console ?
Restart SketchUp to see what happens...
