Toolbar menu issues SU 2018
-
Hello,
Just installed SU Pro 2018 on a new mobile workstation (Dell 7730).
It has a 4K screen. Both monitors are 4k also.
Regardless...there seems to be an issue with viewing the toolbars on the toolbars menu:
Only a portion are visible and the scroll arrows are absent.
I've uninstalled and and reinstalled SU.
SO.....is this due to some display settings? IMG_3063.JPG[/IMG_3063.JPG[/n

As you surmise, there should be a vertical scroll-bar on the right-hand side of the list.
I'm not sure why it's missing...
However, not installing properly can cause all sorts of weird issues.
Perhaps this is one ?
There might be other subtle issues you've not noticed yet !To fix it try the following...
Whilst logged into Windows as your normal user-account, ensure SketchUp is closed.
Find the SketchUp installer's exe file - probably in your Downloads folder...
Select its icon, right-click > context-menu > "Run as administrator"
When prompted choose "Repair"
When it's done restart SketchUp and see if that's helped...Installing any complex app in any other way can create random and unpredictable problems.
So, never double-click the installer's exe file to 'Run' it - even if you have admin-powers it is not the same ! -
Hi- Thanks TIG.
I just tried what you suggested.. Unfortunately, to improvement.
SO...wondering if its a driver issue? I can see it there are new drivers for this NVIDA card. Again...brand new workstation. Also installed Rhino...but have not (yet) gone through all if it's menus.

Hi,
Thanks TIG. I tried what you suggested...but to no affect.
Wonder if this a driver issue? -
Next step is to ensure the Graphics Card's drivers are up to date...
Restart SketchUp to use the changes... -
What is display scaling set to?

Hi,
Well...I contacted Dell and we did a complete system reset.
So...newly installed Windows 10 x64 Pro
Dell then looked for and updated any avail drivers for the NVIDIA Card. Here are the system specs:
Model: Dell Precision 7730 mobile work station
Processor: Intel Core I-9-8950HKP
Graphics: NVIDIA P3200 w/6GB
Memory: 16GB
Built in display: 17.3" UHD (3840x2160)
Hard Drive (1): 512GB PCIe SSDso...a pretty robust system.
Scaling set to 250%.
Then...try it at 100%. No improvement.I heard back from SU support..
They had me uninstll and reinstall. Also make sure that SU is assigned the NVIDIA high perfommance graphics card in the NVIDA control panel.Still....no improvement.

another update:
Just contacted by SU support.
Per their instructions..I've now installed SU2019.
Well...having the same issue.
So...where does this leave me? Hardware configuration? Display resolution? -
Try setting display scaling to no more than 150%. Then restart SketchUp.

Hi All,
Sorry for not getting back with an update to this.
So..it turns out that the screen scaling (on a 4k monitor) was the issue.
Sketchup needs to launch on a screen that is scaled to no more than 175%...150% is best.
Once it launches...the screen can be scaled back to a high percent.
Im my case...with a 17" 4K built-in display on my Dell Precision, the proper scaling is 250% for Windows 10.- set screen scaling to 150%
- open sketchup
- change screen scaling back to 250%....all the menues now function.
Sketchup Support will likely issue a patch for this...or at least now they know how to advice others.

strange, my 4k monitor is set to 200% scaling and I don't recall having any problems (apart from some icon images not scaling)
