Catmull, Cubic Bezier and FSpline pass by the Control Points (BSpline does not).

Ahhh... i thought the Cubic Bezier and F-Spline would be simple "curves" just looking at their picto and because they are placed between spirals and polylines... 😳
Thanks for pointing this out πŸ’š The F-Spline works great! 😎

All the spline tools work fine, but the Documentation feature does not work. I've used Autoinstall with the SCF Plugin Store tool to be sure I have the latest version, but nothing happens when I click on "Documentation"

You have to download the PDF doc separately and put it in the SU Plugins folder or the BZ_17 subfolder.

This is essentially for a matter of size that the doc file is not included in the script pacakage.

              Thank you.

              The phraseology of

"The doc is slightly outdated, but gives an overview of the essential features. All PDF files are also available from the menu "Draw > BezierSpline curves > Documentation..."

implied that they were "also" contained within the extension.

It's an excellent idea to have direct access to the documents for the more complex extensions that one does not use frequently: I wish all extension authors would do the same.

                Hi Fredo:

I was wondering if there could be a "lock to plane" option which would only allow Beziers to be drawn to planes of the current Axes?

The way I would use this option is to 1st temporarily set the origin and axes to a surface that I want the bezier control points to "stick" to and then 2nd draw bezier curves and when finished the curves would "cut" the surface so that unwanted areas of the surface could be removed.

Currently when drawing a bezier, if not very careful, the curve may not be coplanar.

It would be nice to be able to lock points to be planar. How about a set of buttons across the top similar to the way you manage settings for other plugins? The user could choose red/green, red/blue, or green/blue.

As it is now, I prevent curves in 3D by drawing on a face but sometimes it would be nice to be able to draw in space.

                    Thanks for commenting, Dave.

If the surface is small and you need to drag or create a control point way off of the surface (in order to shape the curve) then drawing a planar curve is tough. Also, if there a lot of other closeby geometry it becomes even more of a challenge. There are work-arounds but they can be time consuming.

The curves I draw are usually fairly small but I generally draw a large face for the reason you describe. Still it would be great if the face wasn't needed.

I am not clear on your request.

I you type an Arrow before inputing the 3rd point, you lock all the points on the corresponding axis plane.

I didn't either! Saves having to make a plane to draw on πŸ‘

                              Hi,
I wanted to let you know that I think you have a fabulous Plug-in. Very helpful.
However, I am having a problem with running SU16 and your Plug-in.

                              I have downloaded v1.8a.
The first time I used it in SU16 no problems on my Wintel 7 Pro.

When I desired to start up SU16 the next time, I got a bug splat during initiation and loading.
Tried opening without associating with my new SU16 model and without, same bug splat.

                              Changed name of *.rbz file.
Was able to open SU16. Then disabled Plug-in through Preferences dialog box.
                              SU16 now runs fine.

Please advise what additional details you might desire, so hopefully we can identify the problem.
                              Best, Lindsey

                                Hi Fredo,

I ran into a small problem. I have drawn some BezierSpline Curves - Polylines, onto a flat plane. Wanting to make a 3d terrain out of them I grouped the original curves, made a copy and then tried to explode one group to edit the Z for each line.

Exploding a group containing the polylines also explodes the memory SketchUp uses (V16 win7 X64) and eventually leaves SketchUp non responsive and I need to kill the process.

I could of course never group the lines but for file management reasons I prefer to do so.

See pic and attached file if you would like to try.

                                regards, Max

Have you actually read the first post in this thread ?
Or perhaps more sensibly, have you looked in the SketchUcation PluginStore for its RBZ ?
                                      http://sketchucation.com/pluginstore?pln=BezierSpline

I think it's one of the few Plugins from Fredo that does NOT actually need his 'Lib' installing [ although having that too does not harm ! ]...

As far as I know it works in all available SketchUp versions...
So why not try it... and let us know...

I guess you refer to the menu entries in the contextual menu. I thought it was possible to assign shortcuts to them.
If not, this is not a big job to make them as regular menu static entries.
