Texture orientation question
-
Hi,
Please see the images below.
I am using the follow me tool to create a flared shingle detail above a stone cap. When the follow me path turns a corner the size and or orientation of the applied material changes. It also changes differently from one end to the other.(again please see images.)
Anyone know Whats going on here and how I correct? Thanks
Paul

Is the material applied onto a 'container' [group?] or onto the [sur]faces themselves ?
-
tig, applied to the surface itself.

So I kept messing around and achieved what i wanted, but it is a little fussy.
Turns out that if I unsmooth the group so I see each segmnet line that makes up the curved surface, and then open the group, select one face, right click-texture-reset position , then use the material eye dropper to select the just reset material and then apply that material to each of the other segments of the curved surface, close group, soften group.
Then the materials match as shown below.
Easier way to do this?

My first reaction would be to use Thrupaint, but I think your method is the best native one.

no, this is how it works (without plugins).
You can use a plugin like ThruPaint to do all faces at once http://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=323%26amp;t=44552

I am just now working on a project where I have created the exact same kind of flare out. Thru paint works perfectly for the texture.

thank you, going to get thrupaint now.

I did get thrupaint...havent quite got it mastered though. Need to read the instructions:)
Just for the heck of it, I tried using the followmeandkeep plugin even though it is a straight forward follow me situation and so far the materials are staying oriented correctly around corners...not sure why that would be, but it works.
