It sounds like it could be a graphics card issue.
I remember some time back there was an issue with thumbnails causing explorer crashes.
Try looking for ThumbsUp.dll in the sketchup directory at C:\Program Files\SketchUp\SketchUp 2015 and renaming it to OldThumbsUp.dllx so that it wont be recognised and see if that fixes the problem. You might need to reboot.
If it doesn't work change the name back before you forget.sounds like a shot ....i actually read this elsewhere this morning

+1
WE (W7 64bit, GTX video card) keeps crashing constantly.
What saddens me even more is SU'15 killed XnView thumbnails.Tried the Box's recipe with DLL trick- it did not help.

I have the same problem since installing SU2015 on three different PCs. All are WIN7...

I have a brand new install of win 7 64 bit. Explorer crashes randomly on selecting a SU file. And even the task manager has trouble getting out of it. And no thumbs, of course.

Seems to be a known problem:
Sketchup 2015 Install crashes Windows Explorer
I’ve had at least 6 SU crashes over the last two days (since installing). I’m also getting Windows Explorer crashes when I try to delete a SU file. Seems like a Windows Shell violation - the Explorer crash goes away wh…

I've got three different machines with different installations and grafic cards but all are WIN 7 64 bit
I hope there is a solution soon.

renaming thumbsup fixed the problem
-
Ok, i will have a look and try to do that...
-
Also uptick Redefine thumbnail on save in model info.
-
renaming the dll didn't help.
What else can I do?
-
disable two Thumbsup.dll files (one in SU root, 2nd- in the LO directory). and restart, of course.
it'd 'fix' for sure. -
I've found this one:
C:\Program Files\SketchUp\SketchUp 2015
where's the another one?
Edit:
Ah, you meant Layout... found it!Thank you

Did it fix your problem?
If so,
Does this mean disabling the two ThumbsUp.dll is the right thing to suggest to people with Explorer Crashes? -
I don't have thumbnails anymore...
This is really a bad suggestion!
I need thumbnails, bcause I have thousands of models and I don't know each name of it.
Is this really the solution of that problem?
-
After disabling those Thumsups XnView still display skps nicely (+and supports drag'n'drop).
-
I'm not suggesting that it is a solution. There is obviously a problem and disabling the thumbnails has been suggested as a workaround to stop explorer crashing. If that is the case then it helps to work out where the bug is.
So the question still remains, did disabling those two files, while rendering the thumbnails unviewable, stop the Explorer Crashing issue in your system?

Hi,
same situation as described by Baz. -
I was so happy to get my thumbs back with the 64bit version.
The proposed solution is really not professional.
I hope the will get fixed the bug as soon as possible
-
I give up.
