Tips and Tricks for faster animations
-
I'm wondering if anyone can share any tips / tricks in order to get animations out faster. The last 40 second one I did took over 9 hours to export at 30fps. I guess I could cut down to 24 and maybe reduce the size of the export and hook up some other machines to DR but are there any other secrets to getting these things to cook faster?

Guess I am getting my answer, huh?

better figure out a way to get DR working...
Yes, I've had to reduce framerate and resolution to get things to render in a few days instead of a month. Sorry, no shortcuts that I know of. At least saved maps are working (IR map was broken before in 1.49 if you recall)

what's wrong with DR?

DR is great if you have machines to render to. I am looking to increase animation render times without having to go out and buy a farm.

I dunno Matt, just sounds like you're complaining now
I don't believe there's any way to decrease rendertimes in vray without reducing resolution, quality, or framerate. There just aren't any shortcuts - well, there's Lumion I guess. If you can't "afford" the vray render, what's wrong with the SU output? I end up doing that all the time when I get into time or budget constraints. 98% effective...
Edit: fine Devin - I meant increase the speed of vray...

I found this article which has some good tips.
