      dust effect in ray of light... could anyone explain what to do to have an effect like this with Vray for SU?

        You can't, you have to do this in Photoshop.
        The feature is present in Vray for 3Dsmax, though, so maybe one day we'll see it in Sketchup.

            soon... I really wanted to add that this time around, but between the various plugin updates, proxies, rt, etc, we just ran out of time to add volumetric fog in the 2.0 release.

              For now, you can try to hack it with a ZDepth pass and some photoshop brushes. There are some good light ray brushes on DeviantArt.
