iMac running OS Lion sketchup make 2013 free version.
Tried to re-visit an old component piece and change the geometry but it wont let me delete the lines now.
I did a push/pull of a lower surface and tried to delete the line once they were co-planer. But now the line just stays highlighted blue once I hit delete key, or use the pulldown tab "erase"

New objects seem to still work. I was in the middle of working and all had been fine for some time.

Tried to delete a line from other existing components with the same results, no delete, just a darker blue line.
      Nothing seems to be locked.
      Thanks for any help!

There might be several nearly colinear lines...
Have you tried deleting multiple selections...

the components themselves are fairly simple. once the line goes highlighted it stays persistently. When I click out of the component it will remain highlight blue within the component and its copies.

What does Entity Info say about the line/layer etc?
What happens with Model Info > Statistics > Fix Problems... ?
Can you post a problem SKP ??

Ok, you are right, the issue seems to be somehow layer related. the one line seems to be on layer2, while the rest of the component is on layer0. I had layer0 turned invisible so the line would not delete.

I usually must have the layer set visible as I have had the main model on the different layer for awhile.
Should I change the way I am using the layers? I did this mainly so I can make 2D exports as the drawing progressed without any of the work area visible.

Not sure if my model needs changing, but at least I know whats going on now!
Thanks so very much for your help.

Golden rules for layers: only move groups or components to other layers than layer0 to control their visibility.

                  Likely a layer issue...

Turn off all the layers, except "Layer 0". Group and move any geometry you want to keep to separate layer(s). Blue lines still remain? Now choose Entity, and see which layer the Blue line(s) are on. Go to that layer, and group everything. Create a new layer and move too that layer. Now delete the old layer.

                  Blue lines should have disappeared.

Always keep "Layer 0" empty, and all object / geometry independently grouped, or as separate components. Each on it's own layer. If you find yourself, deleting random unwanted lines in your drawing(s), it is because you are not following this procedure. Learn to use your Lock feature, to select all other geometry you want to group and/or move.

I think most of us learn this the hard way. Random unwanted lines, are the single most time consuming wasted effort, you will spend using Sketchup. Goto Extension Warehouse and download CleanUp3. It is available for both Mac and PC. It's not perfect, though it will get rid of most random lines and specs. Always inspect you drawings after using it, that it did not deleted more than you wanted. A real time saver. 😒

It appears, by just using Cleanup3, you may be able to get rid of annoying blue lines.
