Bonzai 2.0 released
-
hi. will there be a light version (or maybe even a free version like google offers) for those of us that are hobbyist users and don't make any money? it makes me very sad i cant afford this.
-
Modelhead,
We have been using installers for almost 20 years with formZ and other software, so we do have a lot of experience with this. Thanks for your suggestions.
(Is there anyone else that prefers the complications an installer adds rather than simply copying the application folder?)
Align,
This is something that we are considering, although we do not have a definitive answer at this time.
We have also just released our 2.0.1 update, which adds support for a few more languages:
-
I remark that the French (who is the number 3 on the Net) is not on your image
-
Frenchy,
Sorry, we are still waiting on our French Distributor for the translation. As soon as we get it, we will release it.

..this one goes under my list of points that got missed.
Modelhead,
Other than your comments, we have still not heard any complaints from anyone regarding copying the application instead of using an installer. We have only received compliments, so I'm not sure what else we can say...
We do appreciate your feedback though.

Did any of you guys end up jumping ship to Bonzai? Looks pretty good and I have a project that requires Nurbs modelling that sketchup would struggle with. Worth trying?
-
Tried, have it, it but haven't jumped ship. As you say, it's quite a different tool - for a different purpose.
SketchUp is a mesh modeller, Bonzai3d is a NURBS modeller. Two very different beasts. If you need NURBS then Bonzai3d is an option. So is Rhino - very good.
-
MoI3D is another good option.
Blender has NURBS too
-
I have downloaded the trial of MoI3D. so will see what thats like. The only thing putting me off Rhino is the cost at the moment. Blenders learning curve is meant to be pretty steep I hear and at the moment I just dont have the time to dedicate to it even though it seems the most sensible option.
-
Bonzai3d does feel quite familiar to SketchUp users though, IMO.
-
MOI has a direct file export SKP format !
A direct export / Import objects to MOi <--> Rhino by Ctrl C Ctrl + V
Moi = 1/3 price of RhinoBlender is unbeattable for the price
