Lamp is not shining...
-
hi,
i wish to follow the tutorial , to create a beautiful square lamp,
http://renderingtutorials.blogspot.cz/2011/08/sketchup-vray-resources.html
but the final result isn´t good enough to produce a bright shining light
i´d be grateful for any tips to fix it. ( v-ray 1.49.00 )
(the model is attached below)
thanks!

1.49.01 is the most current version. I didn't download the model, but what are you using for a light source in the lamp. Seems to me that you need a planar light, set to visible and set to a yellowish color to achieve that effect.

hi, thanks for a tip, but i think, there´s something missing in my twosided material:-(
-
your material is working OK. I would suggest putting an omni light in your scene. (instead of relying on the emmissive material.)
-
Do not use emissive materials for lighting. V-Ray does not use emissive materials like other engines. The emitter material is only an effect to give a material the look of being lit, like a TV screen. You should stick to omni or planar lights for this lamp effect.

thanks for your valuable tips, but i´d like to stich up to the nice tutorial.
-
First issue is the scale, the whole room is around 1.5ft high and wide.
Secondly use an Omni.
-
And as for the diffused glow - that's Photoshop. It currently cannot be done in VRay 1.49.01

hi solo,
a pretty nice work, congratulations!
would you mind to upload it please, just for a pleasure.
thanks! -
Oh crap, I never saved it, I can recreate it tomorrow if you want (busy rendering at moment)
Or you could just upsize scene x10, remove the light emissive material and replace with an Omni, set to watts and up the power as needed.

hi solo,
thanks for your answer and kind offer to upload a model of the lamp.
that´d be very kind of you!
