The following changes were made:

We have new versions of both SketchUp and SketchUp Pro for the following languages: French, Italian, German, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese and Brazilian Portuguese. We have new SketchUp versions of Russian and Dutch.
Windows: We fixed a bug in the DWG exporter that was preventing 2D from exporting properly.
Mac: Drop down menus on the Dynamic Component Options dialog were missing arrows, making it hard to know that they could be "dropped down" to show different options. This issue should now be fixed.
Mac: The new installer did set some folder permissions incorrectly. This issue should now be fixed.
Ruby: Extension creator/copyright was incorrect when an extension creator/copyright was not specified. Previously, when a Ruby extension did not specify a creator via the extension.creator and extension.copyright methods, the extension defaulted to being created by "SketchUp" with a copyright attributed to "Trimble Navigation Limited". With M5, the creator/copyright fields are left blank in this case.

LayOut
The following changes were made:

We have new versions of LayOut for the following languages: French, Italian, German, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese and Brazilian Portuguese.

Just downloaded the update. Interesting if these downloads are full installers that the windows V8 download has shrunk from 64Mb on first release down to the latest 49Mb for the M5 release. Makes me wonder how much and what type of fat Google put in there?

A little question, when I open SU8 It say me that there is an update to do when I try to update, SU close itself. .....?

The new version awailable notice takes you to the download site. Download the right version for your system and then on PC run the downloaded file as an "administrator".

SU needs to be closed to be able to do the update.

I've downloaded and upgraded the new version but for some reason I've downloaded an english version, I need an italian version, could be possible to change the language without reinstalling SU? thank u

when I try to download the italian version it download the old version that appear like the older Google icon and that is 38,5MB the new english version is 34,1 MB

After update --> SU crashed at startup on mac 10.8.2 !

Did someone know, which plugin(s) makes trouble at startup on mac mountain lion ?

Can someone called me, which plugins SU installed as default ?

use the english version. you will never find any decent resource in italian such as tutorials etc...

I updated Sketchup right away with the new version, but when I open Layout I get a message that there is a new version available....click on the "Update" button and I go to the same download page.

Reinstall/repair did the trick. Why the hassle though?

I found the trouble maker, which crashed the new update on mac 10.8.2

It is the "Mesh2HeightMap" plugin !

Now SU8 is running fine

This update seems to bring very little enhancements.
Apart from The fixed DWG exporter, and some fixed bugs(?) it seems that the greater enhancement was to change Google name by Trimble everywhere it was mentioned. Nice new icon indeed

I would like to add that Contrary to the previous version which was remarkably stable, this v8.0.16846 on my Windows XP Home SP3 32 bit system bugs a little. Often, as I do pretty nothing, Su tells me that my action is impossible until the model to be saved!.
(previons upgrade 8.0.15158 windows Fr version is preciously saved on my Hard Drive)
