Has anybody run into an issue where a plugin conflicts with simple commands, for example File> Open? I'm running into this problem and I cant seem to back track my steps to find the problematic plugin. I have a number of them installed at this point, and most recently I updated the Artisan Plugin. But it seems to be working fine. Has anybody come across this issue before?

      Thanks!

I've never seen anything like that. What steps did you take to determine it is related to a plugin? Have you done anything to try to isolate which plugin it is? What is the actual conflict you're seeing?

          What is happening exactly?
I don't know of any tools that might do that...

To check if it IS a Plugin causing this you can make a folder next to the Plugins folder - name it perhaps 'Plugins_Disabled'.
List [with-details] the Plugins folder's contents 'by type' and select all of the .RB/.RBS files in it [don't worry about its subfolders].
Move them all into the new Disabled folder.
Restart SketchUp and see if the error persists.
If so it's not one of the scripts and they can be returned to their home in the Plugins folder... Now you need to repair/reinstall SketchUp to see if it's an app level glitch...
Assuming the issue has gone then add the Plugins back in 'halved' steps.
First try to move half of them back into the Plugins folder, and restart SketchUp and check for the glitch.
If it occurs then the issue is within the files you have just moved over.
Move half of those half back into Disabled and restart/retest.
Again if it's still occurring move a further half of the remainder into Disabled.
That way you quickly narrow it down to the culprit [...256,128,64,32,16,8,4,2,1].
If the issue doesn't occur after any of these file-shuffles then you know the culprit is in the Disabled folder's file-set left behind OR just moved over during later steps. So move half of those into Plugins, restart/retest. If it recurs you know the culprit is now in the last batch you've moved over, so you can re-Disable half of those etc. If it stops then the culprit is still in the Disabled set, so move half of those across and retest... It's easier to do than to explain πŸ˜’

And what do you mean by "conflicts with simple commands". Like the command is grey and longer works, or like when you press "Open" your hard drive is reformatted? A little more info on the weirdness could be useful. Thanks!

Also, what version of SketchUp are you running? You could update your profile to include that and your OS.

Well, To answer TIG, I've begun doing this already, and have found that its most definitely a plugin issue. I'm now in the process of migrating over each plugin. Its going to be a long annoying afternoon πŸ˜•

Chris, to further explain the problem with the open command: when I hit file open or control+O I either have Sketchup freeze or I get the open box completely blanked out (empty window) and have to force quit the program. I didn't know if somebody might have had this problem in the past. Really it all started when I downloaded the Open Studio software (https://openstudio.nrel.gov/). I've since uninstalled it, and have had no problem, but it cropped back up today after updating some existing plugins (artisan update). I might just go start a fresh install and reload my plugins.

So you're going to move plugins out of the Plugins folder one at a time until it the problem goes away? There's an easier way.

How about putting that in your profile?

Rename the Plugins folder to something else. Maybe 'Old Plugins'.
Create a new folder called 'Plugins'.
Take the time to clean out the old plugins you don't want anyway.
Cut and paste half of the remaining plugins from 'Old Plugins' to 'Plugins'.
Open SketchUp and see if you have the problem you were seeing before. If you are, you know the problem is one of the plugins you've just cut and pasted. If you don't see the problem cut half of the remaining plugins and paste them in the Plugins folder. Check again to see if you have the problem. If not, repeat the process.

When you do run into the problem again cut half of the plugins you just pasted back out and check again. By doing this in halves you'll create progressively smaller sets of plugins from which your problem is coming.

This would be the time to also check the plugins you do want to keep for their latest versions.

i see an open error when using the Kerkythea plug-in and trying to directly launch Kerkythea after generating the output file. so i have to save and close the SU file (or create a new blank one or open another file) before i can open the Kerkythea output file...
